I have a client that is interested in setting up a 6 month retainer.

Do I create a project for that? Or is there any other ideal way to go about it so that the messages, files, and details are organized?

For my retainer clients I create a project and just add it to “active clients” in my client flow.

@Crystal Preyer  - Great question! For a 6-month retainer, I’d recommend creating a project for the client to keep all communication, files, and details organized in one place.

From there, you can set up a recurring invoice within the project to automatically bill them monthly (or however you’ve structured the payments). This keeps everything streamlined and professional — and ensures you don’t have to manually send an invoice each time.

Keeping it all within a single project also makes it super easy to reference past messages, files, or deliverables as the retainer progresses. 💛

Hey Alicia!

Ok, thank you! That’s very helpful. I just wanted to be sure that there wasn’t another way I should be doing it when it’s on-going vs a single project. :)

Many thanks! Also your templates are inspiring!

@Crystal Preyer  - Thank you! That is so sweet of you to say! I run my retainer clients in the same workspace so I can always refer back to things from the past. I have had clients with me since I started HB and the only time I start another project is if it is a large stand alone project that will have a lot of communication. Then I don’t want to clog up the feed and I keep that separate. However, even then I typically just create another workspace within the project. If you have any additional questions let me know!
