No longer able to add discounts as a line item to invoices

Hey all, I am posting to express my disappointment and extreme frustration with the new services update that HoneyBook has rolled out this week. Not only has my entire list of services been deleted, but I am no longer able to add line items with negative amounts to my invoices.

This is very poor user experience. Now the only way to add a discount is to just add a number in the discount section of the invoice. This is giving me no opportunity to explain what the discount is for, and occasionally I have people stacking discounts. Historically I was able to easily add each discount as a separate line item and explain what it was so my customers could understand exactly what discounts they were receiving. Very unhappy with this update.

@Miranda Kelton - I can definitely understand the frustration here, especially when it impacts workflows you’ve already built into your client experience and invoicing structure.

Being able to use negative line items for specific discounts/promotions gave a lot more transparency and flexibility, particularly when stacking discounts or wanting clients to clearly understand exactly what each adjustment represented.

There is actually already a feature request started specifically around this that would probably be a great fit to upvote and add your use case to as well:
Line Item Discount Feature Request

The more detailed examples and upvotes these requests receive, the easier it is for the development team to gauge how important the functionality is for users and workflows like yours. 💛

Thank you, Alicia! I went and upvoted that feature request, unfortunately it is closed to further comments. Glad to know that I am not the only one experiencing frustration with this!

Hi @Miranda Kelton I’m so sorry for the issues you’ve encountered!

I can absolutely understand how concerning it would be to see your services missing, especially when you rely on them for your day-to-day workflow.

Your services should not have been deleted as part of this update. But I'd like to take a closer look at what's happening in your account. I'll be reaching out to you via email shortly so we can gather a few more details and investigate this further with our team.

We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and look forward to helping get this resolved.
