Clients needing to verify via email, but no email is sent

When I send a smart file: Clients are frequently being told they are being sent an email to verify who they are, but they never receive the email and therefore, can’t sign the contract or pay the invoice. Is there something I can change on my smart files to eliminate this issue or what I should have my clients do to resolve the issue? Currently I have been deleting the file and resending a new one in hopes it doesn’t request the same thing again. Sometimes it repeats the same issue and sometimes later it resolves itself on its own. Would love to know what I can do to prevent it because it’s such an inconvenience. Thanks!!

@Destiny -  Try using the “Send Link” option instead of HoneyBook’s email—copy the Smart File link and send it manually through your own email to help bypass verification issues. 💛

Hi @Destiny,

The smart file access codes have definitely been a bit of trouble since back when the feature was originally released. I’ve heard on several occasions that users’ clients were having trouble getting the code sent to them.

Here are two things you can check for this:

1. The client needs to make sure they are looking for the access code in the email that is associated with the project (and file)- sounds like a given, but there have been instances where a client had 2 emails but only one was associated with the HB project

2. Did your client check their spam/junk folder?

You also have the option to turn off the access code for your files. You can do this either on a template level or on a client to client basis. Just note that if you’re sending that file with an automation, the setting will be whatever the master template has.

If you want to require the access code, I would try sending a test to yourself to see if you have any trouble. Create a project and name it “Test”. Add one of your emails (other than any you already use in HB) to act like the client. Then send the same file to yourself. If you have trouble, reach out to support to see if there might be a bug in the feature.
