Hi @AFAFCoach!

I hope you’re doing well! I wanted to pop in and answer your question.

It looks like you're seeing "Retainer Paid" as a Pipeline stage, not a payment label — and that’s totally customizable in HoneyBook.

💡 What you're seeing:

HoneyBook’s Pipeline shows where a project is in your process (ex: Inquiry Received → Call Scheduled → Retainer Paid → Planning → Completed). The “Retainer Paid” label in this case just means the client has made their initial payment, and the project has moved into that next workflow stage.

🔧 Want to change it?

You can absolutely rename or edit your pipeline stages to match your own process or wording preferences.

Here’s how:

  1. Click Projects

  2. Click “Customize Steps”

  3. Choose Rename, Reorder, or Delete, depending on what works best for your process

✅ Examples of alternate stage names:

  • "Deposit Received"

  • "Booking Confirmed"

  • "Planning In Progress"

  • "Contract Signed"

This helps keep your client journey clearly defined and tailored to your services!

But just so you know, the Payment Paid label appears for any payment that’s received! It just shows you at a quick glance that a client made a payment.

Does this help?
