Automation 2.0 - Stage Change Not Available on Draft Emails

Using Automation 2.0 to reply to an inquiry, then create a draft email that I need to review before sending.

When I send the draft email, the stage doesn’t change like it does when I send an email not using the automation.

Solution:

  1. Have the draft emails still count as an email being sent so the macro setting of “move to follow up once first email has been sent” works. (Though I realize the auto reponse saying “we’ve received your email” would then falsely trigger that stage flip…
  2. Create a decision tree YES/NO that says “was draft email sent” YES = do this. NO = Cancel Automation / or whatever else the user wants…

@TheLoveTapDJ - Thanks so much for sharing this insight! You're absolutely right—currently, draft emails sent manually after being created via Automation 2.0 don’t trigger the automation’s stage change, which can disrupt workflows that rely on stage progression.

I can see how a decision tree with a YES/NO condition like “Was draft email sent?” would be incredibly useful for cases like this. That level of logic would give users more control while still allowing automations to stay flexible and responsive.

I’d definitely recommend submitting this as a feature request in the Ideas section of the HoneyBook Community. The team is actively evolving Automation 2.0, and feedback like this helps guide improvements. The more context they have from real-world use cases, the better!
