client payment options

I don’t believe there is a way to do that. I feel like I remember that being an option at one point in the past, though.

Hey @MittenMingle! You can do that with smart files :) You would need to create the invoice in their project, but you can mark a payment as paid on the backend while it’s still in draft mode without sharing or notifying the client. 

If you want the payment to show up in your bookkeeping / reports, you would need to “publish” the file with the paid payment, but it still wouldn’t notify the client. 

To do this, you just go to the project > create file > choose invoice or custom smart file to use a template > edit the payment details > scroll down to “payment schedule” and click the 3 dots > mark paid and add the details of how they paid!

You can “publish” the file at the top right corner by clicking the little cloud and arrow icon. Hope that helps!

I think the OP was referring to an actual POS (Point-Of-Sale) option, similar to PayPal or Square. The payment recording option isn’t actually the same as processing a payment in person.

@Derek Reed  I think it’s combining your point of the POS option with then manually marking an invoice as paid. So, @MittenMingle would just need to take the payment in whichever POS platform you’d like (since there’s not a way to do that inside of HB currently without sending an invoice with a payment page) and then when you mark the invoice as manually paid, you’d enter a note of where the payment was taken

We need a point of sale system that allows us to capture payments immediately after a client agrees to our services. Since most of my sales occur over the phone, clients have often been confused when we shifted to processing payments through smart files instead of handling them directly over the phone.
