Clients getting emails from me with different addresses

I had a client tell me he is frustrated because every time I email him, it’s a different email address (or alias)

The truth is sometimes I email the client outside of Honeybook because there is no inbox. To see messages, I have to click into each project which is not a good use of my time. If there was a dedicated inbox for email messages, I would use Honeybook for messages more often.

Why is this happening? How can I fix it?

Hi Brian,

Yeah, I can see how that would be frustrating from a client’s perspective.

Do you have your own domain set up with HoneyBook’s email integration yet? From what you’re describing, it sounds like you’re using HoneyBook’s built-in email system, which from what I understand would create a temporary alias for each project. If you message a client outside the app, HoneyBook might not be able to link it to a specific project—so it assigns another alias, which ends up looking inconsistent to the client.

If you set up your own email with your business domain through HoneyBook, it can send messages from a single, consistent email address. That way, it’s using your domain’s email server (via your MX records) instead of HoneyBook’s shared system, which has to manage emails for all users.

I thought I had it set up but it looks like I didn’t. I wonder if it got disconnected somehow. I reconnected it so I hope it helps.

Thanks.
