Creating An Affiliate Program Using HoneyBook

Hello,

Has anyone here created an affiliate program within HoneyBook?

I want to create such a program and since all of my business hub and services are managed in HoneyBook, I would like to use it to promote to and onboard new affiliates, as well as manage the clients those affiliates bring in. I am ok with having to integrate features of a separate affiliate management software, if necessary, but I would like everything to be based in HoneyBook since that is my CRM.

Would anyone wish to share their experience with creating such a program and/or recommend how I could set that up?

Thank you so much!

Hi @Vanessa Jacquemin!

Ooh I love that use case for HoneyBook 😍 I don’t have experience doing that exactly, but I’ve used HoneyBook to manage my podcast guest onboarding/scheduling/communication and have been part of affiliate programs myself, so here are some thoughts and ideas for you:

1. I would use lead forms as a way to qualify and sign up your affiliates - asking them questions and potentially scheduling an intro call to see if it’s a good fit

2. Once they’re part of the program, I’d set up an automation with an onboarding sequence - sharing any relevant materials or links (e.g. Google doc folders, their unique links, etc.). End the sequence with a task for yourself to add them to the monthly/regular automation

3. Managing them on a regular basis: once the onboarding sequence is over, add them to a monthly/regular automation with monthly/bi-weekly/regular email templates where you can just copy and paste updated links and text (make sure these emails require your approval before sending). Think through what tasks you will have on your end to maintain & refresh that communication and sprinkle them throughout the automation

4. Host regular office hours if needed with a recurring Zoom/Google meets link that you can add to those emails.

5. If you want to have an off-boarding sequence, create an automation for that too!

Essentially, HoneyBook won’t be able to track their progress, affiliate income or make payments out to them. But it can help simplify and automate your communication with them. So my biggest piece of advice is to think through that communication flow and then templatize + automate as much of it as you can. So that all you need to do is to go in and update some links before sending.

I hope this helps!

Hi @Vanessa Jacquemin!

I have set up affiliate programs using Honeybook! Everything @Masha Z said is perfect for it. You can also add a questionnaire and contract after you qualify them. In the questionnaire you can make sure to include a question like: Please include your PayPal or What is Your Venmo? So you have a way to pay them and you don’t have to track them down for payment. It makes for happy referral program members!

You can also add a tag like “Referral Program Member” to everyone who is in your program so you can easily see who is apart of it!

I would add an automated email that sends to your clients maybe 6 months after your project is completed inviting them to join your referral program.

I hope that helps!

Hi Masha and Kaitlyn,

Thank you so much for your responses! Yes, HoneyBook would be great for affiliate communication management but what about the actual affiliate program? Would you know if I could integrate HoneyBook with an affiliate management software since HoneyBook cannot create affiliate link, etc. I am trying to create a simple affiliate/referral program using an inexpensive affiliate management tool that is integrated to HoneyBook, that will in turn reflect the clients contracted from those affiliates.

Appreciate your feedback.
