Does the automation only work if the client sets up the session?

I’m having an issue...if I schedule an initial session on behalf of the client in the HB project, my automation doesn’t happen, but if the client schedules the session, the automation works great. So my question is...does the automation only work if the client initiates the session or am I doing something wrong?

If your automation is dependent upon a session being scheduled, then that is correct. THEY must schedule the session via the link to trigger it.
