Is there a way to edit the client name on a smart file that has already been sent.  For example: I sent a proposal & contract to the client for signature & payment & they request that the contact be signed & sent to a colleague.  Honeybook is not allowing me to edit the client name & email signature on a file that has already been sent.  Am I wrong? Do I have to completely recreate the contract from the start?

@Liz Pensiero - You’re absolutely right—once a Smart File (like a proposal or contract) has been sent in HoneyBook, you unfortunately can’t change the recipient’s name or email on that file. This is because it’s already been logged with tracking, signature fields, and potential payment links assigned to the original contact.

If the client needs it to go to someone else (like a colleague or new signatory), you’ll need to duplicate the Smart File, assign it to the correct contact, and resend it. I know it’s not ideal, especially when everything else in the file is already built, but duplicating is much faster than recreating it from scratch.

To do that:

  1. Open the original Smart File.

  2. Click the three-dot menu () in the top right corner.

  3. Select Duplicate File.

  4. Go into the duplicated version, update the contact info, and resend.
