HoneyBook lacks key automation features for project date-based triggers — overpriced for what it offers

I’ve been using HoneyBook, but I’m really disappointed with its automation capabilities, especially considering the $400/year subscription. I need to automate actions based on Project Start Date, not Project Start Time, and the current setup doesn’t allow that.

For example, if a client submits a form today, October 12, for a photoshoot scheduled on October 20, I want to send them an email with a smart file for signing 3 days after the photoshoot. The problem is, HoneyBook only offers triggers like Project Start Time, which requires me to manually add the time for each project. This defeats the purpose of automation — I shouldn’t have to input this information manually.

Yes, HoneyBook allows clients to choose the project date through its tools, but the automation system still doesn’t let me use that date as the trigger for my workflows. This is a major limitation, and for $400 a year, I expect more from a CRM system.

If HoneyBook cannot provide true date-based automation without manual input, it’s seriously overpriced and lacks the flexibility that other platforms offer. This is not the level of automation I’m paying for, and I’m considering switching to a different CRM if this issue isn’t addressed.

Please add the ability to trigger automations directly from Project Start Date without having to manually add times.

Hi there, @Petr Maier! This is Rona from the HoneyBook team :)

I went over your request and completely understand the frustration. I just wanted to let you know that it is possible to use only the project date for the automation trigger!

Here’s how it works: if a project has a specific time set, the trigger will take that into account. If not, it will use the project date and trigger the automation at a default time. For example, in your case, if no time is set for the project, the automation will trigger 3 days after the project date, at the default time (the start of the day).

I agree that the current experience might be confusing, and we are planning improvements to make it clearer. In the meantime, I just wanted to explain things more clearly and confirm that the desired functionality is already available.

I hope this helps!
