How to set up scheduler for specific session START times?

I am a professional organizer and I offer 4-hour sessions. My work hours are 8:00-5:00, but I’d like to book sessions that only start at 8:00am, 8:30am, 9:00am, OR 12:00pm, 12:30pm, and 1:00pm.

I do not want clients to be able to schedule through lunchtime. (i.e, a 10-2 or 11-3 session)

The scheduler won’t allow me to create availability for 8:00am-1:00pm and 12:00-5:00pm on the same day. I get a message that the times can’t overlap.

My workaround has been to schedule 8:00-12:00 and 12:15-5:15 -- but that’s just awkward.

Any other ideas to get this to work?

Hi @ChristyL!

I know it’s been a while since you posted this, so I hope I’m not too late to the party haha! Thank you for talking about this.

You’re totally right that HoneyBook doesn’t allow overlapping availability blocks on the same day — and it also requires that your full session duration fits within your availability window.

So, here’s the least complicated workaround I’ve found that still avoids lunchtime bookings:

✅ Create two session types:

1. Morning Session

  • Duration: 4 hours

  • Availability: 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM

  • This allows start times of 8:00, 8:30, or 9:00 AM only — since anything later wouldn’t fit before 1:00.

2. Afternoon Session

  • Duration: 4 hours

  • Availability: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM

  • This allows start times of 12:00, 12:30, or 1:00 PM only — again, later starts wouldn’t fit.

📅 This way, you’re offering both morning and afternoon sessions on the same day without needing to set up a bunch of session types — and clients won’t be able to book 10–2 or 11–3 sessions.

Does this sound like what you’re looking for?

Yes! This would let me create the sessions I’m looking for - without having scheduling over lunch. Thank you!
