Hello all,

I am a wedding venue, and I often worth with many different vendors. Sometimes, I work with specific vendors all of the time, like a specific planner for example.

Now, this planner also uses Honeybook. I want to add them as a collaborator to my project so that the planner can view our contract and payment schedule. Since this planner is not under my business, and is a separate entity, she will also have a contract that needs to be signed and paid for.

I am wondering if it is possible for me to create a separate contract with the planner inside of my workspace. This “sub-contract” is something that would need to be created within the contract that allows the planner to charge me for their services. So in the one hand, I have a client paying me, and in another, a portion of that payment needs to be applied to the planner and for that contract to be visible to the client as well. The client should be able to see the contract that is in place and is paid for, or paid for according to the terms of the payment contract schedule.

For example, we usually collect 4-5 payments. 1, which is 25%, when booked more than 1 year out, 1 at the year mark 25%, 1 that is 3 months out, 25%, and the last payment is due 1 month out, 25 percent. The final remaining payment, also due 1 month out is the refundable security deposit. When I collect that initial first deposit of 25% I want to be able to divert a portion of that payment to the planner for their down payment to reserve their time.

Additionally, I don’t want to have to get charged twice for the processing fee. When the client pays us, we get charged the processing fee. Then honeybook deposits the money into our account. If i try to use a debit card or credit card to pay my planner, her account is going to charge the processing fee as well. so the fee is paid twice. If i was able to divert a portion of the payments made by the client to me and the planner, it should only have to get paid once. Kind of like how zelle and other payment systems have figured out how to split the bill. I don’t mind paying the full credit card payment (although it can get pricey I do understand that this is how they get paid to run honeybook) I don’t want to have to pay it again.

Currently my work around for this is that honeybook deposits the money into my bank and then I zelle the planner which doesn’t cost me any extra money but makes it tedious for accounting at the end of the year when I try to figure out which payment to the planner applies to which wedding as well as dragging out the process of the planner getting paid.

Lastly, when my planner puts me as a collaborator on her honeybook account, I get all the messages they send back and forth, so I end up with a ton of redundant emails that I don’t necessarily need to be a part of.

I would just like to see honeybook get a better system in place for collaboration between mutilple vendors who use honeybook together.

I would like to see this as well. As a photographer, it would be amazing for venues and planners in particular to have their preferred vendor lists powered by Honeybook. Honeybook knows all of our availability. Instead of a venue sending the client a PDF, they could send them a link that only shows the vendors that are available and in their price range. There could also be incentives like a referral code that gets them a discount or gives the venue a kickback. Lots of ways that it could be mutually beneficial.
