Lead Forms w/Contract

Bonnie

I was watching a video that you can add a contract with your lead form just before payment.  I tried to do this, and it looks like it is about to be added but then disappears.  Does it matter if I’m on Chrome or Edge?  And is anyone else having this same issue?

@Nancy Ramos Yeah, I was surprised this wasn’t something that would have already been included with the launch of lead forms. And I hate to hear you’re having to use another platform in order to accomplish this.

There are a few workarounds I and my clients have used. I, of course, am not a lawyer, so I can’t say how the 2nd and 3rd workarounds below would hold up legally over an actual signed contract. But here are some workarounds to this:

  1. You could have some verbiage on the lead form that says once they pick a date and pay that you will then send over a contract to complete the booking. And also add that the booking is not officially secured until the contract is signed. Then you can have your automation set up to send a contract once the lead form is submitted
  2. You could add a “contract” page where you paste your contract copy into a text box and then add a check box that says something along the lines of “I agree to the terms above” and requiring the client to check the box before moving forward. This is similar to anytime you’ve had to click a terms and conditions check box on a website.
  3. You could paste your terms and conditions into the invoice area that says something like “by booking and paying for the service, you agree to the terms included on this invoice”

I know these may not be as binding as a signed contract would be, but hopefully they can work until HB adds the contract feature to lead forms. And definitely go upvote the feature request.

Hey Bonnie! I’m Justin, and I work on the help center. Can you send over the video you were watching that had this? You can’t currently add a contract block to lead forms, but maybe the video meant another block type when they said “contract.”

(Also, HoneyBook runs best on Chrome!)

Oh gosh I have no idea who had that in the video and I’m wondering now if it was for proposals instead of lead forms.  If I find it again, I’ll send it over.  Thank you for your help and I’ll start using Chrome :)

Hi again Bonnie (haha),

So Justin is correct- you can’t currently add contract blocks to lead forms at this time. But you could set up your automation to send a contract smart file once someone books through your lead form.

Now in regards to the contract block disappearing (I’m going to assume it was with a smart file since you don’t have the option to add it with a lead form)...I’ve not experienced that before. Could you record a video of you trying to add it so we can see what’s happening?

PLEASE, PLEASE add the feauture so we can add contracts to Lead Forms.   I am switching to another CRM temporarily just to have this feature.   So annoying having to follow up with clients so they can sign the contracts when doing mini. sessions.    It is a waste of time. Other crmS ALREADY have it attached.

@Nancy Ramos

Thank you for the suggestions.    I already took the other route of having a 2nd CRM until this gets fixed.   I am new at this so it took me a great amount of hours just to figure this out.

Hey @Nancy Ramos

If you don’t mind me asking, what 2nd CRM are you using?

Hey @Nancy Ramos

If you don’t mind me asking, what 2nd CRM are you using?

I think Honeybook is very powerful so I am giving it all I can to learn how to use it at the max.  However, it lacks on the mini session features.   3 steps to get a client to sign up.  I loose them in the process.   So I am using usesssion for my holiday season.   No learning curve either it is so simple to use yet full of features for my minis

I was doing that and then moved back to honeybook. I cancelled sessions when I was so excited the mini session feature only to find out I can’t do the contracts without this extra steps.

Hi Folks!

Just wanted to give a bit more insight into the hurdle to having contracts in lead forms. In the simplest terms, for e-signatures to be valid in a court of law, it has to be proven that the person named is the one that actually signed the document. In this digital world, that is completed by email verification.

Since lead forms are public facing, in theory, a client could “sign” a contract agreeing to XYZ and then not fulfill their part of the agreement. Were you to try to take them to court, your client could simply say that it wasn’t actually them that signed the contract and you would be unable to prove otherwise because no verification took place.

The team is researching solutions into the best way to allow for contracts in lead forms but are also extremely aware of potential blockers to your client’s experience were some kind of verification be needed upon lead form submission. We want to make sure that our solution doesn’t discourage your client’s from completely an inquiry or submission.

Please PLEASE allow this. Having them go to their email to essentially “finish” the booking proposal by signing the contract seems a bit unprofessional and creates more work for the client, not less.
