Multiple initials and signatures - better process

I have a contract template where I want multiple people to be able to initial certain sections, and sign the agreement. I can’t get it to work the way I would expect (require initials and signature for 1st signer, and require initials and signature for 2nd signer.) I reached out to support and was sent the below process. Apparently I will need to intercept the contract after it is signed by the first signer, make modifications to it, and then add the 2nd participant to the project and separately send it to them for signature. There doesn’t appear to be a way to make an initials block required for the specific participant - if it’s marked required it has to be completed by the first signer. I was wondering if anyone has a better approach for this? BTW, Docusign could do this but I don’t want to use Docusign.

From HB support:

To have the first client initial and sign before the second client on an agreement template in HoneyBook, you should follow these steps:

  • Scroll to the bottom of the contract to find the signature lines.
  • Click the signature line to open the settings sidebar, where you can decide whether that signature is required.
  • If you need more participants to sign, click "+ Add Signature."
  • From the "assign to" dropdown, decide which participant you’d like to add as a signatory.
  • To ensure the first client signs before the second, you can send the contract to the first client and, once they have signed, add the second client as a participant and send them the contract to sign.

Remember, you are required to keep at least one participant and one team member as signatories. You'll be notified when your clients sign their contract, and there's no need to resend the contract once you sign—your client's version of the file will automatically reflect that update.
