Naming Projects for Reoccurring Clients

I am curious how others are naming the projects for reoccurring clients. For instance, I have a handful of families that I photograph every year. Do you name the projects a specific way so that when you search for the current project you know which one to pick? Or do you rely on the date of the project? I’m having a hard time figuring out how to name my projects for ease via my calendar and app.

You can have up to EIGHTY tags. You can make new ones!

For my recurring clients - I use the same NAME but different project types so I know the difference. I also archive the old ones. BUT if you have the same project type, you could just make the project name - NAME OF CLIENT - FALL 2024

You can also use tags and project type to help further categorize them!

OK, but there are only 10 tags. So I would run out of tags pretty quickly.

And the project type would be the same, since they are reoccurring family sessions. How do you name your projects?

Hey y’all! Justin from the help center team here. For anyone landing on this post that wants to learn how to create new tags, this help center article shows you how to do that. Diana also mentioned using project types—you can create custom types!

I only see 10 different colors for the tags. Are you reusing colors for the tags? How do you get more colors?

Thanks,

Jenelle

What I do is keep one project open and then include the year in the SmartFile name 👏 this way it's easy to find in the files tab.

If you're closing each project out after each shoot (makes sense) then yes, I would put the year or maybe month and year in the Project name!
