I love the new automations but I am pretty frustrated. I feel like I have wasted so much time diving though the resources provided by HB about automations and their functionality just to spend more time building things out that cannot work or have to be modified due to caveats/behavior not disclosed.
This feels like an unnecessary amount of trial and error.
I wish that the resources provided offered more about what things can/cannot do vs what it does. Hope that make sense? More about the behavior and parameters of how it works.
For instance, the condition of a specific session scheduled “scans” the project in its entirely, not just the scheduler included in the automation in the previous step.
I found this out only in trying to troubleshoot why an automation took the YES path even though the client had not scheduled that session. It was because she scheduled that kind of session 3-4 months ago. This caveat alone has me trying to come up with. a workaround that is seemingly more complicated and cluttering on the back end.
The Ai Help chat is also not reliable as I ave found a lot of outdated/incorrect information and have only found answers talking with one of the amazing humans to learn something that could have been an asterisk or note call outs like this:
This call out is one of the only ones I’ve found that details some of the caveats/conditions that would dictate how I use or build an automation.
I know that it isn’t very positive to go into detail what the limitations or behaviors of certain features might be, but understanding the limitations up front would lead to a MUCH better building and user experience.
