I’m hoping someone can answer this question for me. I’m reviewing my HB payment processing fees and noticing something odd with one customer in particular… although it seems like it’s happened before.

“Sue” paid me $299.50 on 5/27/24 and 6/24/24.

The 5/27/24 transaction had a $8.94 credit card processing fee (2.9% + $.25).

The 6/24/24 transaction had a $10.27 credit card processing fee (3.4% + $.09).

Why the different amounts? Did the fee go up on 6/1/24?

Was it autopay or recurring? That has a different percentage amount

She had selected 2 installments so they should have both been at the same amount.

Hi @Denise O'Malley! So that’s because the second payment was card-on-file. I remember noticing the same thing last year for the first time. For card-on-file payments, HoneyBook charges 3.4% + 9¢ per transaction.

What’s odd is we set up every account the same and that doesn’t happen every time. Maybe something was different, but I don’t recall this exact transaction… or any of the others where it occurred.

Hmm so in your other transactions where you have split payments, they are indeed set to autopay right? If they are, they should render the 3.4% fee. If not, and the client goes in and manually pays it’s the 2.9%. Perhaps reach out to support to see if there was a glitch along the way?

For me, once I started to go back into my projects I noticed the pattern across the board.
