My retainer is 50% of my service fee, not including mileage. Unfortunately the Honeybook subtotal includes the mileage amount, so I’m never able to use the automated percentage or equal payments amounts because it will include the mileage.  Is there a way to have the subtotal exclude the mileage?

@Abigayle Curtis -  Great question! You're correct that HoneyBook currently includes all line items in the subtotal when calculating percentage-based payment schedules, which means things like mileage or add-ons get included, even when you don’t want them to be part of your retainer calculation.

💡 Here are two workarounds that may help:

1. Send Mileage as a Separate Invoice
This is the most reliable option if you want to keep your 50% retainer tied strictly to your service fee. You can send the mileage invoice separately, either before or after the event, and keep your main invoice clean for retainer/payment plan purposes.

2. Add Mileage Later as a Manual Add-On
If your mileage charge isn’t known upfront or is subject to change, another option is to send the main invoice (with your 50% deposit setup) without mileage. Then, once the service details are finalized, you can edit the invoice and manually add the mileage amount before the final payment is due.
