Personalizing automated emails before approving?

I was excited to set up automations, but I’m realizing there might not be the functionality I need. Before sending an automated email (with approval needed) I wanted to be able to adjust it to add a personalized touch. Is this not possible? Or am I not seeing where the option is?

If it’s not possible this basically makes automations useless to me, so hoping I’m missing something!

@altheafloral here’s that idea Monica mentioned – I just upvoted it myself, too! In the meantime, can you tell me a bit more about what your intended Automation was with the emails? I’m a brand designer and HB Pro so I’d be happy to see if there’s a workaround to at least take some of the manual burden off you in the interim. Have a great weekend!

We’re working on building that functionality now! If you upvote this feature request, you’ll be notified when the feature is live :)

@Matthew Eriksen I just came here to find a solution for the same thing. I have a workflow set up for parents looking to book a newborn session. The trigger for my automation is them filling out the contact form. But after setting up everything for the automation, I'm seeing that I can’t add a couple personal lines to that email when responding to their inquiry. Not sure what a good work around would be since I'm relatively new to Honeybook.

Hey there @Amy P and welcome to HB! I’ve been using it for almost 5 years in my own business. The good news is that the ability to edit/customize an email before sending is currently PLANNED to be released soon. Until that very exciting day, my recommendation is this:

  1. Name your email templates so they appear in order of operation
  2. Once lead completes contact form go to that project
  3. In activity feed select template for use-case
  4. Edit to fit this client with personalized items

Not exactly a groundbreaking solution but it’s all we can do right now. You could create a task reminder in the automation to remind you to Customize X email, but that may feel redundant.

In the meantime, keep checking your Automation actions to see when they add the edit draft email template step 😊 oh, and Happy (almost) New Year!

Hi @Matthew Eriksen You mentioned this is the release fix? “keep checking your Automation actions to see when they add the edit draft email template step”

However, can you send smart files with this? My automation is to send smart file with email. I need to edit that email, but do not see that functionality.

Can you send smart files with this new release you mentioned “create draft email?”

Hi @Naomi Sanouvong – Within automations you can always send a smart file via email already. The function I’m referring to is ability to edit the email draft within an automation, which depending on which version of Automations you have, you may or may not have the function. You won’t however, be able to go into an active automation, and choose then to send a smart file. Though you can always independently send whatever file or email you wish manually. Let me know if that clears things up!
