Smart fields - sync modified data back to file

Question

I am finalizing my contracts and smart files and have run into an issue that I thought was obvious…turns out it isn’t.

When I add a smart field into a contract that allows the info to be changed does the entered information sync to the project details and/or overwrite the original data in the file? In my test of a new template that I made it appears the data is not sync’d back to the project fields if the contract smart field is entered (if empty) or changed (if not empty) when the client is going through the smart file and completing/signing it.

If you want, you can suggest a feature request so others can vote for it, and we can track the request.

For now, I’ll suggest a workaround: If you want data to be updated from client input, you can do that using linked questions. Add a question on a page before the contract page, and have the clients update the information there. The contract on the next page should then include the updated data.
