Hi everyone! As you may know, Google and Yahoo are updating their spam filters. These changes go into effect on Thursday, February 1, 2024. Most of the changes impact people who send at least 5,000 emails in a day (across all email tools) but there are also implications for senders using a custom domain as Google and Yahoo begin enforcing stricter requirements.
If you are using a custom domain to send emails, you need to ensure your SPF and DKIM domain records are configured correctly. Otherwise, the chances that your email communication will end up in your client’s spam folder are higher.
There are two resources we’ve put together to make sure you are compliant with these changes:
-
You can test if your SPF and DKIM protocols are properly configured by using our domain testing tool, which can be accessed from the integration tab in your account. For more information please consult our Help Center.
-
In December, we put together a comprehensive blog post outlining the changes and how to ensure your email behavior follows the new requirements. You can find that post on the HoneyBook blog, with the most up-to-date information available.
-
The upcoming changes also require commercial emails to contain an unsubscribe header and an unsubscribe link. We are rolling out a feature to support members with this requirement. By tomorrow (2/1) you will be able to mark emails as commercial and add the option to unsubscribe.
We have emailed all HoneyBook members who are sending emails using a custom domain and who have either not used or not completed the domain tester. The email outlines the actions you should take to set up your SPF and DKIM records.
If you did not receive an email from us, you have either successfully checked your SFP and DKIM records using our domain tester, in which case we encourage you to continue using the domain tester to check your domain records, or are not using a custom domain to send emails through HoneyBook. Please consult the Help Center article and blog post for more information.
We know that many of you have already gone through configuration and verification processes with a variety of tools that integrate with your custom domain. In addition to the tools we’re providing, we encourage you to help each other and share any resources that have helped you navigate this change.
