I hope you were able to join us on Wednesday for our wrap up webinar for You Asked, We Built.

We saw a ton of questions around the new SMS features, like: “how do clients opt-in?” “where do you control the reminders?”and “are you able to customize them?”, so I wanted to check in with you all to see what other questions you have about the new features we released during You Asked, We Built? I’m here to help :)

I can’t watch the webinar just yet (it says “we’re processing this video, check back”) but will there be or can there be an option to send the client a text when you reply to their initial inquiry? I have to do this manually right now because my emails end up in their spam so often! It would be nice to just have an automated text that says “Valerie has responded to your inquiry, please check you inbox”

Hey @Valerie Clement thank you so much for flagging that. I just resolved the upload so it should be good to view in a few minutes here :)

At the moment, the only SMS options are meeting reminders, payment reminders, and Smart File access codes. But I love this suggestion! I think I saw you already added it over in the Feature Requests section too, so that’s perfect.

I also feel like we might be able to resolve that spam issue with some of the tips here in our Help Center. Have you reviewed this article before?

Hi there, I’m just wondering if there is an easy way to put the “insert mart field” button back to Clients first name? It used to be an easy 1 click and now I have to scroll down to find the “first name” option or type it out and at that rate, I might as well just type out the clients first name. It hasn’t helped the efficiency at all in my case but yet made it more difficult.

Thank you.

Hey Krystal! I appreciate you reaching out with this. A couple of thoughts:

  1. The ideal use-case for email smart fields is to insert them at the template level. That was the use-case we had in mind when adding so many awesome new options here. It sounds like you’re using them on the project/client level, which doesn’t quite offer the same value, and you’re probably right: in that case you are better off to just type the client’s name manually. If you set up an email template ahead of time, then it’s one simple click to pull in the email copy and all smart fields will be auto-filled with the client/project details.
  2. Rather than clicking while typing out your email, you can try inserting the { key on your keyboard and then begin to type the word “client” I think you’ll find this kind-of hot-key approach to inserting a smart field on the project level a little smoother as your fingers never leave the keyboard and you eliminate the scrolling issue. But you might still find you’re better off to simply type the client’s name based on the information I sent above.

I hope this helps! And I hear you that it used to be easier, but that was simply because there were fewer options. The ability to offer more fields was really important to us and I think that inevitably means more scrolling for some folks.

I would really encourage you to set up a few simple email templates that pull in the basics of what you need (ie client first name, a basic greeting, your email signature, etc.) so all you have to do is build upon that template given the specific moment you’re in with a client.

People often build out email templates for quickly replying to inquiries, kicking off their projects, wrapping up their work with clients, etc. Templates in general should be set up in advanced to help you more quickly (and consistently) reply to the typical situations that come up in your business.

Let me know if you have any follow up concerns or questions on this. I’m happy to assist :)

I would love to sell digital products, but I’m afraid that once a person gets the link, they’re going to download it several times. Does any have a solution for that?

Bring back being able to see the amount of money made each month from a glance!!!! it’s now in a bar graph for the monthly sales report, and doesn’t even show you exact numbers and taxes like it used to. Now we have to run a report each time!!! The reports are impossible to open without downloading other softwares to our desktops. We are business owners who need this info readily available!!! Not clicking a million buttons and downloading reports every time. Horrible, horrible changes you guys made to the reports tab.

Hey @Liz Coopersmith, since digital products in HoneyBook are currently just distributed via a link/URL to wherever the resource is housed(G drive, dropbox, or other hosting website), which they can then choose to download or not, there’s no solution to stop your client from downloading it multiple times. Here’s an article explaining a bit more about the client experience in case that helps.

Does that make sense? Let me know if you have any other questions. I’m happy to dive into this use-case in more detail with you if you’d like :)

@Kjr Thank you for the candid feedback. I saw that you were able to add your thoughts to the existing thread over in our feature request section too, so that’s great. This is exactly how we learn where we can afford to improve for you guys, so I genuinely appreciate you being vocal about this.

I’m curious about the software you were prompted to download in order to read the reports? Can you elaborate on that for me?

I totally hear you (and the others in that idea shared in our Feature Request section) that the at-a-glance function has changed and makes things more challenging for you. We’ll make sure our team gets the feedback. Thank you again for taking the time to voice your concerns here.

thank you for your response. It is just truly frustrating when these things are taken away from us - especially on the mobile version. A lot of work is done from cell phones these days. When my accountant asks for these numbers, it is delayed because I have to get on my computer and download a whole report just to get these numbers to him when before I could just open up my app and see these numbers on my phone. It is also a feature that I used a lot - to have a quick glance at how my numbers for the month are going. I do my best to hit a goal each month and it’s important to me to see these numbers easily. And I am not sure what I needed to download. But I have a windows computer and it couldn’t open the .csv reports that HoneyBook puts these reports in. It’s very frustrating.

@Kjr Gosh, I’m so sorry! That is super frustrating. I appreciate you elaborating on the need and frequency; that’s a really important insight.

Thanks again for taking the time to voice your issues here. That’s one of the perks of this space so we’re glad you’re here.

I want to post a job for a second shooter on Honeybook, but I am unable to do so. It used to be on the right corner, where you receive notifications, but I am no longer able to see it since the new update. Can you please help me with this?

Thank you in advance!

Hey @Rahel Foto we actually manage job postings like this here in the Community now!

Hop on over to “hire a HoneyBooker” to post and browse.

Thank you for the quick response! I did notice that. Can we filter by location and service?

There’s no filtering, but the search bar at the top allows you to put in a location or a service so you can easily find what you need. Let me know if that ends up working for you.

I’ll give the filtering feedback to our community team to see if our new platform would allow us to build something like that.

If you create a way for only the group that paid to get reoccuring value that helps…

Ideas that come to mind:

Private Slack Channel / Discord Channel / Facebook group where those int he group can ask questions and others will answer. (Just like we are doing right now)

Monthly emails you send out with updates / a monthly tip etc.

Hope this helps… I’m dealing with similar questions that are coming up as I begin to design my online course digital product… Good luck!

Thank you! It's not user-friendly. I'd like to connect with photographers in my area instead of across the USA.

Totally hear you @Rahel Foto. I think the search bar or even Command F to search key words is your best bet at the minute. With only two pages right now you should be able to find what you need, but I understand long term needing a better solution.

I’ve brought the feedback to the team, so it’s definitely on our radar.
Thanks for taking the time to get us that feedback. Super helpful!

I remember in the webinar a mention of being able to make the session the project. Or in other words, if a client books a session, there would not be a separate block in the calendar (one for project, one for session). Am I remembering this correctly? If so, how do I implement it?
