Wanted to share some thoughts on the platform (which I’ve been using for a few years).
While some of the recent changes have been nice, there’s room for improvement—particularly from a UX (both me and my clients) perspective:
1) Tasks:
Right now it feels like a bolted-on afterthought. It’s weak insofar that I can’t add a specific time, the notifications for Tasks get lost in all the noise of my other notifications, and I’d like to be able to add a client file, or other doc inside.
2) Default nomenclature:
Please remove the default inclusion of the word “project” that follows a project name when creating a new project from a client record. I delete this on 100% of new client project pages—it’s a moot addition, much like “ATM machine”.
3) Default templates:
Please give us the ability to remove them as we see fit (or at least archive them)
4) Templates page—sorting:
Please allow us to choose our default sorting method. Right right it defaults to “Newly created” when I return to the app after closing down.
5) Email templates:
Any way to create a grouping option? I have different templates that align with certain packages, so I don’t need to scroll through 30 options to find the 1 template I need, when I could more quickly find within a smaller project-based group of say 5.
6) Project progress:
“Swim lanes” a-la Salesforce or “Project Roadmaps” in ClickUp! are amazing for seeing where we are with a client at a glance. Not having having this as a native functionality means I have to go and seek out another app that can help me project manage my client’s career coaching.
While I appreciate you allow integration with the likes of Monday and Asana, imagine if we didn’t have to? You see, these other apps ALSO have pretty decent CRM systems that I could quite easily migrate my business over to.
Again, the current Task function feels like a huge missed opportunity—let’s call it what it really is: a 1-legged reminder.
7) Project dates:
Clearly the platform was built with events in mind—weddings, etc—where there’d be a project end date. As a career coach, my timelines for client project work shifts and is super fluid based on realtime client availability and deadlines. I want the ability to remove the “end time” from the Project creation popup/screen.
8) Availability:
It defaults to busy when creating a new Project. I have to change this each time to Free, otherwise it blocks out my availability in Calendly.
9) Completed projects:
Why are projects marked as “Completed” still grouped inside the “Active Projects” tab? They’re completed, thusly NOT active. Can you please make it so that anything that’s marked Completed does NOT appear in the Active Projects tab?
10) Home/Dashboard:
This is one of my favorite changes you guys have made—thank you. But for the love of god, why isn’t Tasks at the top? Please allow us the ability to move these tiles around as we see fit. For my own workflow I’d want to see Tasks and Unread Messages right off the bat, the Calendar tile is pretty useless (what does “Home” mean? That I’m at home?)
11) Automations:
Please allow project-defined automations. Having to add it manually negates the essence of an automation. Did you guys mean to include this oxymoron?
Nice to Have
1) Live chat:
A Live chat feature for clients to reach me THROUGH the app would be a game changer—is there an option for clients to download Honeybook iOS as a client themselves, and have access to features like file sharing, live chat, etc?
The app doesn’t feel like it was built for our clients’ ease of use and lacks any real utility outside them viewing, signing, and paying. That’s a pretty anemic user experience, and I feel a missed opportunity for Honeybook in general.
Thanks for giving this your attention, I love the platform.
Cheers!
David
