Mimi Heberlein

I just got a “too good to be true” inquiry for a January 11, 2025 wedding for 100 people. I am located at the top of the Leelanau Peninsula in Michigan, 12 miles north of the 45th Parallel, so it will be a true winter wedding.

The name he gave was Luca Green. This guy gave me a phone number that doesn’t work and his email is atlasholidaysltd2@gmail.com, not a person; a company. We have had three email exchanges and I have asked each time that he provide his partners name and working contact details for both of them. He keeps sending me info like, “I want the Premium Bar Package. And his last email said this…

“Hi Mimi,

Thanks for your confirmation.
I have just spoken with the band manager to book them for the date and they told me it will cost me $800 for them to perform for the date but they want their payment via bank transfer which is not possible for me to do at the moment because I operate a joint account with my wife and she gets alerted of every transaction I do and this will ruin my surprise of bringing the band to perform her favorite songs at the event.
I think I should make a single payment of $1500 plus $9800 to you with my credit card and after the charge is made successful you can transfer the amount to the band's account after an invoice is issued for the payment.
Let me know how we can proceed so that I can send you my credit card information to charge on your POS via phone.

Luca.”

I reiterated to him that I have confirmed nothing and I sent yet another email asking for their names and contact details. I told them I am not confirming anything without a signed contract and a non-refundable deposit and told him we never mix monies with vendors as they are contracted separately and directly.

My Spidey Sense says this is a scam trying to over pay the amount and then asking me to refund the difference.  I just want to give vendors out there a heads up about this!!
