How far out our clients booking? // Dynamic Pricing

Is there any way to run a report that shows me the average time an inquiry comes to compared to the date of the project? (Trying to measure how far out clients are starting to book their wedding DJ vs. close rate and pricing the timeframe typically books at)

Would love to start looking at how I can price my services accordingly (If I know majority of weddings book at 8 Months, then I know I can quote weddings that are inquiring 12 months out - a little higher, knowing I still have a good shot of booking one at my usual rates once I get to the 8 month mark…)

Not sure if this makes sense but a simple “avg inquiry time to project date” by “project type” would be great! (Corporate events don’t plan out as far as weddings)

@TheLoveTapDJ  - This makes total sense — and honestly, it’s such a smart way to start aligning your pricing strategy with booking behavior! 👏

At the moment, HoneyBook doesn’t have a built-in report that shows average inquiry-to-project lead time by project type, but I agree, that would be an incredibly valuable metric.

In the meantime, a bit of a workaround would be to export your projects as a CSV (you can do this from the Projects tab) and then use spreadsheet tools like Google Sheets or Excel to:

  • Subtract inquiry date from project date to calculate lead time

  • Group by project type

  • Then average those timeframes manually

It’s not as seamless as an in-platform report, but it’ll give you some great insight into how far out your clients are typically booking by category (and help inform that smart tiered pricing model you mentioned!).

And I’d definitely recommend submitting this as a feature request in the Ideas section, you’re not the only one who would benefit from a report like this!

Awesome! I didn’t know I could extract the raw data to then manipulate myself ◡̈ Thanks for the tip!
