Hi Katie, Wedding Caterer here, so of course work closely with photogs/venues/etc…

Neck deep in a PNW off season. Booking is going well, but I am not as inundated as I would like. I am on a remote island chain, so we are an exclusive and expensive locale, but if they don’t come...they really don’t come! lol!

Trends this year: Private Estate Weddings vs mid tier wedding venues (the big dogs are fine, but the medium sized venues are underbooked and those families are DIYing on their estates).

The market has dropped a little. I’ve found a couple caterers bottoming out on pricing to try and get business. Haven’t seen that in other parts of the industry.

Covid wedding boom might be over?

Hey @Ashley Byrd it’s so great to meet you! Your work is beautiful 👏🏻 Have you always been in CA? (My husband and I contemplated moving to CA when about 9-10 years ago. We used to go out to Napa/Sonoma every anniversary prior to COVID, I miss it so much!)

So great to meet you @Than P 🤗 we’ve noticed some similar trends over here but you’re right - it seems to be the mid-range market that’s being hit the hardest. We’ve actually been encountering other wedding pros moving to change markets or hanging it up completely (which just honestly breaks my heart). Between the boom and economic conditions, it’s definitely a challenging period!

@Jessica Spencer that’s awesome! I have truly never met a husband & wife planning team and I LOVE that you work together! (I’m biased of course). Do you ever travel over this way at all? We typically have 1-2 events a year out towards Orlando, I’d love to meet up in person some time! 😊

Great to meet you @Dana Estes ! I’ve been to Dallas a few times (I lived in Houston for 2 years during Grad school) and I love your work! My husband and I have been discussing adding Super 8 to our packages for a little bit now - any pro tips you can share for pros/cons of offering it as a part of your services?

@Katie Blankenfeld husband/wife teams are a little more special in the wedding industry, am I right? I am originally from Miami Lakes so I do visit my family in South Florida sometimes. We also have some family in Fort Myers. I don’t usually go down that far for weddings (I’ve learned that south FL is just not my scene for my business, but I have had 2 weddings down there previously). Would definitely love to expand my vendor list to other areas of the state so it would be great to get to know each other 😊

Hey @Katie Blankenfeld ! Thank you so much for the compliments on my work. I love Super 8 and I think you will too. It’s something not a ton of people do since it’s a pretty specific look. It can be pricy so just be sure to account for that in your pricing. I reccommend getting a camera that is either from Pro8mm or is a camera that they will service since the cameras are vintage (unless you get the new Kodak camera) and can break and it’s hard to find a place that can repair them.
