Payments based on time

Is there a way in Honeybook to set the payment based on time?  I see “hour” as a unit but Honeybook’s proposal assumes a qty of 1 and sets the payment based on 1 x the hourly rate.  Since I have not done the job yet, I do not know what the qty will be.  How can I show the client that the rate is an hourly rate and will be determined after the job is done.

There’s a “timer” tool on the right side of the project. As you work, you can enter the time and then when you’re done for the month (or whatever the interval), you can invoice based on those hours.

Hey @BenL ! What do you do?

When we did hourly, I still had the client pay in advance, at least a deposit, for a monthly contract.

The way to do this is to click on the service block, then on the settings side panel, enable the Quantity adjustments.

This way you can charge for 10 hours and adjust the hourly rate.

Now, let's say you charge the client 10 hours a month but you work more. What we did was once we hit the halfway mark, we'd communicate that - and if we got to the 3rd week of the month and had 2 hours left we'd ask the client if they wanted to pause until the next month or add additional hours to keep going.

We would track hours (you can do it directly in the Honeybook app!) and assign it to their project. Then you can create an invoice directly from those tracked hours. Pretty cool!
