I have restructured my pricing format to basically offer one singular base package regardless of the type of wedding I am being hired for. From there I offer different add-ons (Second shooter, engagement session, etc..)

I am trying to format my honeybook proposal to have the base package as a default package that essentially is locked in and cant be unchecked. But then offer an a la carte menu for the add ons.

I hope you guys can help!

I do something similar for my services. The cost is set, but the client can choose three services to include. Here’s what I did.

  1. I created a base service that includes the standard price.
  2. Then I created the add-ons as individual services. In my situation the price was set to $0 since its included in the base service. In your case, you would set the price for whatever you charge for that add-on. Create as many as these as you need.
  3. In the proposal I start with the base service. Then include the add on services that the client chooses.
  4. Repeat for the invoice.

I hope this helps! And  best of luck with the new pricing model.

If the services block in my smart template has a list of a-la-cart items for purchase, and also a selection of pre-made packages (composed of various a-la-cart items for a lower total price), how do i get the invoice to not itemize (double charge) a-la-cart prices when a client selects a package that includes those items?

The issue is that i still need the client to specify (select from the a-la-cart menu) which variant of an included item they want (blue widget or red widget), but it charges them if they select any widget, since it has a price.

I thought about duplicating the a-la-cart section to add a $0 menu of those items, but that would allow someone to select a non qualifying package and then select items at $0.

Hi @Ethan Beazley , Honeybook Pro here! Sorry for the late reply, but if you still need help with this, here’s how I do this for all my clients.

  1. Ensure you have an All in One Smart File. There are some in the Template Library and I have a template you can purchase as well - just let me know if you want the link.
  2. On the services page, you’ll have a couple different Service Blocks.
    1. The first service block will contain your options for base package. The setting for this block will be to SELECT ONE, and mark it REQUIRED that they select one.
    2. The second (and third, fourth, etc.) service block(s) will have the optional Add-ons. The settings for these blocks will be SELECT MULTIPLE, and leave it OPTIONAL - they don’t have to select an option unless they want to.

Now what will happen is they can essentially “Build their own” package, and everything they select will auto-populate the Invoice. If you have a Services Recap and Payment Recap on the Contract, they’ll also populate there.

@Jay Franca , the solution to your question about blue vs red widgets is to add a question after the Services block. So they’ll select the “package” they want which includes, say, Widget type A. Then the question below it will ask, “What color do you want your widget to be?” and they can choose from Blue, Red, Yellow, Green, etc.

Hope this is helpful!
