editing templates on mobile devices

I have been a member for a bit now I think since 2022, and in the last few years there has been many updates. Some are great and some seem to make things harder.

I remember I used to easily be able to edit one of my templates within my library on my mobile device without connecting it to a project. I am a person who is often away from a laptop so this is one of the man in reasons I enjoyed Honeybook in the beginning.

I would like to edit a template within my library so that it would updated for the next inquiry and I won’t have to remember to get on a desktop to edit the template.

Currently when I go to a search engine on my mobile device to edit a template not connected to a project, it says to go to the app. However when I go to the app, I must connect the template to a project before I can edit it.

This may be a user error but I haven’t been able to figure out how to just edit a template, while using my mobile device, without connecting it to a project. Does anyone else feel like we should be able to do this?

I feel this is defeating the purpose of convenience.

Don’t even get me started on the fact that sometimes I have to go to a desktop to edit an invoice…

Hey @Marjorie Mason!

If you click the “My Templates” tab in the app, it will automatically take you to the recent files you’ve sent to clients. BUT, at the top, there should be a toggle between “Recent” and “Folders.” If you click Folders, you should be able to edit the template without needing the file needing to be attached to a project

Hmm, maybe I’m waiting for an update on the app because I followed your suggestion and once I select my template, it only asks if I want to “use” it and can’t edit it.

@Marjorie Mason ahh! You’re so right. I should’ve caught that. So this isn’t user error at all — it’s a current limitation of the app.

I don’t work for HoneyBook, but I completely understand why this feels frustrating, especially if you’re often away from a desktop. I know it would make my life easier if I randomly think of something I could put into a file!

HoneyBook uses the Feature Request tab to see which features their users are wanting most. I found a feature request for this exact issue. I’ve upvoted on it, but you can too! Here’s the link.

Thank you for following up about my oversight :)
