HONEYBOOK IS FAILING IT'S USERS

I am starting to think I need to move platforms…..

First, it was the change with the scheduler link in the email. You used to be able to link the schedule link simply in an email. Now it puts part of a schedule and then says view more dates. - looking confusing and messy to a client. Now I have to open an entirely new tab, go to schedule, copy the link and then paste it into the email anytime I want to link my schedule to a client. Adding time to my workflow. Complained about this very odd change that did not make any sense, but nothing was done.

Now, they have removed tasks AGAIN from the right side column in a project. I think this was moved last week, then many users were complaining, and it was put back, but now it is gone again. Another change that adds time to my workflow and allows easily for things to be missed when you can not see the communications easily alongside creating the next tasks for a client. I am all for change that makes sense and will help a workflow, but this adds steps and time. This makes zero sense when you think about client management and accessibility. Tasks are the main item I use in Honeybook, and now it is more complex.

When I complained, the support told me there was just going to be a transition period and I would get used to the change. No, I can assure you I will not. This is not about change and getting used to something, it is about a CRM being what I need a CRM to be - easily function-able, organized.

It would be great if Honeybook would stop making changes that cause it’s users more time in their daily work. It would be great if Honeybook would stop trying to fix what is not broken. It would be great if Honeybook actually listened to it’s users when we are telling them something they have changed is not a good design choice based on the entire reason it is used for.

They say these changes are made after “high demand” for the requested change. So I would really love to hear if you requested this change - why?? What benefit do you see??

Good morning everyone!

I know it took some time, but we are BACK on the side bar.

Thanks your patience everyone. I know this was an initial change that missed the mark, but I promise you, we’re always listening. Our goal is always to build a product that helps you save time and grow your business. You told us that this change did the opposite - so thank you for checking us when we need to be checked. Your feedback truly does matter. So stay loud!

@Traci Edwards - Thank you for taking the time to share your experience so honestly—and I can absolutely understand your frustration. As a HoneyBook Pro, know conversations with the HoneyBook team about these issues are happening, and I want you to know that you’re not alone in feeling this way.

Many community members have shared similar feedback—especially around the recent changes to the Tasks view inside projects. These updates have definitely impacted daily workflows for a lot of users, and those concerns have been communicated directly to the team.

While I don’t have a direct answer or timeline for how or if these elements will be adjusted, what I can share is that HoneyBook truly is listening. The team is working hard behind the scenes to continue improving the platform and evolving it to meet the needs of modern service-based businesses. Sometimes those changes are rolled out with the best intentions, but the real-world impact isn’t fully known until users like you speak up—and that feedback is incredibly valuable.

Please know your voice matters, and your input really does make a difference in shaping future updates. I’ll continue doing my part to pass along feedback like yours, and I’m always here if you want to chat about any possible workarounds or ways to adjust things in the meantime.

Thanks again for being part of this community—we’re better because of honest conversations like this. 💛

Honestly all of this. I cannot tell you how frustrating moving the tasks bar is, and how detrimental it is to my workflow. It is the single most important feature of honeybook for me, and without it, I’m not sure I’m going to remain on this platform. If I cant stay organized, or I need to use OTHER apps and tools for what my CRM should already be doing, it’s time to look for a new CRM.

SAME at this point HB Is becoming more of a hindrance than something that is helpful.

As a long-time Honeybook user, it does not seem like the team is listening at all. A lot of photographers have already left this platform this year (this is publicly talked about on various platforms), and with the changes that keep coming, I imagine you are going to lose a lot more customers if you don’t actually start listening. The changes that have been made in the last year only add time to all of our workflows. I literally have to use HB with multiple tabs open it is insane.

@Traci Edwards  -  I truly hear you—and I appreciate your continued honesty and willingness to voice how this is affecting your workflow. As a HoneyBook Pro, I want to be transparent and say that I’ve personally sat in on town halls and community feedback sessions where both other Pros and the HoneyBook team have had deep, ongoing conversations about these exact concerns.

People have expressed the real frustration these recent changes—especially to Tasks—have caused. Many of us are adjusting our entire workflows around them, and I completely understand the overwhelming feeling of needing multiple tabs open just to get through the day. It’s not lost on any of us.

What I can tell you is that HoneyBook is listening. That doesn’t always translate into immediate change, but from what I’ve witnessed firsthand, the team is actively trying to balance user feedback with their long-term vision for the platform. And while I’m not directly involved in their internal decisions, my role as a Pro is to support my clients by finding the best possible setup within HoneyBook—tailored to how they work, what their goals are, and how they function best.

This change to the task flow has absolutely impacted how many of us operate, and I know how disruptive that can be. But please know: your voice matters, your feedback has been heard, and I truly believe they are working toward a solution that better serves all of us. 💛

Alicia…

What is the long term vision for HB? They certainly haven’t shared that with the users, nor do they share platform updates prior to implementation, which can be exceedingly frustrating. Perhaps users should have the opportunity to know what the vision is, so users can decide if this is the right platform for them before investing significant time and resources to implement and transition to HB. I don’t appreciate the “ask for forgiveness vs permission” approach that the company seems to operate under.

Let’s see if they are listening...

Great question - esp considering the tasks have still not moved back after many many many complaints from users, but yet “they hear us.”

Why?? Is there not a better solution?? Keep tasks how theyre set up now, but move them back to where they were. @Alicia Bauer

@Traci Edwards, @Christine Dopp, @York Trolley Company -

Hey everyone — I hear you, and I truly understand the frustration behind these comments. As a HoneyBook Pro, I want to clarify that I’m not part of the product development team and don’t have the ability to make changes to the platform. Like many of you, I use HoneyBook daily and coach clients through those same changes — even when I don’t always love them or fully understand them at first.

For those who may not be aware, HoneyBook does offer ongoing ways for users to be involved and stay informed about platform updates. The Beta Testing Program allows members to test features before they’re fully released, and the Public Roadmap outlines what’s currently being worked on or considered. These resources have been available within the community, but they’re easy to miss if you haven’t explored those sections. It’s worth checking out if you want to better understand where things are headed or have more direct input.

I can’t speak to everything going on behind the scenes, but I do know they’ve got a dedicated team working to build a better platform—and that includes listening to feedback, even when it’s hard to hear. They’re not perfect, but I genuinely believe they care.

Ultimately, every business owner has to decide what works best for them, and I completely respect that. There’s no one-size-fits-all solution, but I hope this community remains a space where we can share honestly and help each other navigate the ups and downs together. ❤️

Literally almost the same thing you said in the last three comments - can you provide any more information about Tasks and if they will be moved back to where they were??? Today, I accidentally assigned a task to a CLIENT - how embarrassing. This new task system is not good. It needs to be changed back or updated for users. It does not make sense that HB would add changes that make people’s workflows LONGER.

Hi everyone,

You can view our product roadmap and see what is in store for the upcoming months. It’s accessible from the What’s New dropdown of the navigation bar here in the Community.

You can also checkout the HoneyBook Blog for the growing list of monthly product updates!

We appreciate everyone’s patience while we work out a fix for this. Like I mentioned in a previous comment (either here or another thread), we’re working on a lot of task related features and improvements that required moving tasks away from the sidebar. But we hear you loud and clear - the move is negatively impacting your workflow.

What’s happening now is that the product team is sorting out a solution that addresses the concerns you all have flagged while also finding a way to incorporate the additional features and improvements we made that were originally slated to work with the new layout. I kind of think about it like a renovating a restaurant - we had to remodel in order to improve and create the food we want to create. Now that we’ve heard concerns about the new remodel from our guests, we have to adjust the plans while still finding a way to serve the new dishes we created. Hopefully that makes a bit of sense 😅

Your concerns are not falling on deaf ears. The team is on it.

@Monica R  - Thank you for replying and hopefully clarifying some of these issues. 💛

@Traci Edwards  - I am sorry that you are frustrated with my response, I tried to clarify I don’t have the answers because I do not work at Honeybook. I cannot provide any information on when or if they will be making updates or changes because I don’t have any information to share. I hope you can understand that I just wanted to try to provide additional perspective and not ignore your questions.

@Monica R  Thank you for your informative response. A possible quick fix would be to put a notification dot next to the Task link so the viewer is aware there is an open task. This would also be helpful for Notes, so the viewer is aware that a note(s) have been posted to the project.

Also, keep in mind some of your members are small business owners, like myself, that are focused on running our businesses and not interested in becoming an HB guru. I bought into HB to help me free up more time to focus on business matters. I simply don’t have the time or will to keep up with all the updates, beta testing, community comments etc. Frankly, the velocity of platform changes is exhausting. I just want the platform to work and be familiar so I can navigate it effortlessly. That’s my $0.02.

I can’t agree more - so for there hasn’t been an update in a while, besides the notetaker during meetings, that has helped my buisess be any faster. It’s only added steps & cost me minutes upon minutes each day.

I feel like once I learn something and get it under my belt, it changes again. While it might be exciting that there’s so much in the way of development, many of us are creatives first - small business owners second, and don’t have the time, bandwidth, interest in learning our CRM all over again every other month.

I came to HB cause it was simple and effective. Now every time I open it, I feel like something has changed.

You can slow it down, for a moment, and let the rest of us catch up 😂

And yes - please move the Tasks back.

Circling back to this tasks issue as it’s been a few months since removing the tasks bar. And as feared, things are slipping through the cracks on my end. I cannot tell you how essential having the task bar visible as I’m looking at messaging is. I was outraged and frustrated when this change was made and it’s going exactly as I was worried it would. Currently looking at other CRM platforms that have this feature, as outside of templates and project organization, this was one of the most important tools I had in my workflow.

This is great- but can the function to add a task also be there on the side bar as well? If I have to click around to add a task, it’s still half the headache.
