Maybe I’m not understanding or i am missing something .. I created an invoice template and it seems like I should be putting different “services “ on there…,

when I create and invoice it includes all the services and I cannot select the ones I need ..   this is obviously not correct.

what is the correct process to create an invoice and select the different services options avail. Specifically designed to each customer.  Help!

@Kelli Littrell -  You’re not missing anything, this is a great question and a common point of confusion!

Invoice templates in HoneyBook are designed to save you time by pre-loading all the services you might offer. However, when you apply that template to a project, you’ll want to customize the invoice before sending by removing any services that don’t apply to that specific client.

Here’s a quick step-by-step:

  1. Start by applying your invoice template to the project.

  2. Once it’s added, go into the invoice and click the “trash can” icon next to any services that don’t apply to this client.

  3. You can also update quantities, prices, or add new services directly in the invoice before sending it.

You could also choose to customize the invoice template by deleting these services from the template before the invoice is added to your project.

If you want to let clients choose which services they want, you might want to explore using a Smart File with a service selection page instead, this can be set up to allow clients to pick and choose packages, and the invoice will populate based on their selections. Let me know if you’d like help setting that up!

You've got this! 🙌

I guess a suggestions is to not have them preloaded .

I’d like the option to add them.  It’s more work to delete then to add when you only need one or two out of 30 items

@Kelli Littrell - Yes! You can absolutely create an invoice template without any preloaded services. Here's how to do it step by step:

✅ How to Create a Blank Invoice Template in HoneyBook (No Services Preloaded)

  1. Go to your Smart Files
In the top navigation, click on Tools > Smart Files.

  2. Click “Create New”
Select Invoice or start with a Blank Smart File and add an Invoice block.

  3. Delete any preloaded services
If any services are listed by default, hover over each one and click the trash icon to remove it.

  4. Add a placeholder section (optional)
If you want to leave space for services you’ll manually add later, you can use a text block to leave a note like:
    “Insert client-specific services here.”

  5. Click “Save as Template”
Once the invoice is blank and set how you like it (with your branding, payment settings, etc.), click the three dots in the top right corner and choose “Save as Template”.

  6. Name your template
Give it a name like “Blank Invoice – Add Services Per Client” so you can easily find it later.

🧠 Pro Tip:

When you're ready to use it with a client, open the template, duplicate it or use it in a Smart File, and manually add the services relevant to that client. This gives you full control and avoids showing unnecessary line items.
