Multiple Navigation buttons on a smart file.

I’d like to suggest a small but meaningful enhancement to the Smart File experience.

When sending a contract or invoice through a Smart File, it would be helpful to offer clients additional action options—particularly for those who need more time or prefer alternative payment methods. Currently, the only clear call-to-action buttons are typically “Submit” or “Pay,” which can feel limiting.

Two specific suggestions:

  1. Add a “Close for Now” Option: Many clients may want time to review a proposal or contract before signing or paying. While they can simply close the tab, not all users realize that. An additional “Close for Now” or “Review Later” button would provide reassurance and improve user experience.

  2. Add a “Pay by Check” Option: For clients who prefer not to pay by credit card, it would be helpful to offer a button that routes them to check payment instructions or simply logs their intent to pay by mail. Right now, the only visible option is typically credit card payment, which may confuse or deter those preferring offline payment methods.

Thank you for the great platform—this kind of flexibility would really improve the experience for firms like ours that serve a range of clients.

@Rick Dubois  Thank you for taking the time to share this, your suggestions are thoughtful, practical, and would definitely improve the client experience within Smart Files!

Both ideas, a “Close for Now” or “Review Later” option and a “Pay by Check” alternative, would provide clarity and reassurance to clients who aren’t ready to take immediate action or who prefer offline payment methods. I especially love the idea of making it feel more like a conversation and less like a transaction.

While there’s no built-in support for those buttons at the moment, a potential workaround is to add a short note or section to the Smart File explaining alternative options, such as:
"Need more time or prefer to pay by check? Just reply to this email or close this window — no action needed right now!"

That said, I absolutely recommend submitting these suggestions as a feature request in the Ideas section of the Community. They’re simple but powerful updates that could make a big difference for service providers with a variety of client preferences.
