Proposals Using the Invoice Page But Without The Payment Schedule

Hi Honeybook lovers,

I’m a photographer who frequently submits bids for larger commercial projects where the client primarily needs a clear project outline. I love using the invoice layout because it’s clean, easy to read, and allows me to list each role or service along with a simple briefing and associated costs.

That said, I really wish there were an option to temporarily remove the payment schedule so I could use the invoice format strictly as a proposal. I’ve tried using other forms and custom templates within HoneyBook to mimic the invoice layout, but nothing looks quite as polished.

When submitting to these types of jobs, I’m often one of many applicants — so having something that looks professional and industry standard really makes a difference. Ideally, I’d love to use the invoice page for proposals and then just add the payment schedule later once the client is ready to move forward.

Does anyone else find that this would be a useful addition to the HB system?

Thanks for the consideration!

@nikkigotspirit -  This is such a smart observation, and I totally agree that the invoice layout is beautifully clean and professional, especially for commercial projects where clarity and polish really matter.

While HoneyBook doesn’t currently offer a way to temporarily hide the payment schedule on invoices, one workaround that might work really well for you is to use a Service Brochure-style Smart File first.

Here’s how it works:

  • You create a Smart File that lays out your roles, services, or packages just like an invoice, but in brochure format with optional selection buttons.

  • The client selects only what they’re interested in, no payment or contract yet.

  • Once they’ve made their selections, you can quickly turn that into a full Proposal Smart File with the invoice and contract built in.

This approach gives the client a polished, easy-to-navigate file without feeling pressure to sign or pay before they’re ready, and it keeps your process feeling elevated and intentional.

And yes, I still recommend submitting your original idea as a feature request in the Ideas section too! A toggle to remove or delay payment fields would be a great addition.
