I recently created an inquiry form under Lead Forms. This is the link I am putting in my bio for customers to submit their inquiries on before I connect further with them.
My issue is when setting up an Automation, I am not finding the option to add my Lead Form. Only Smart Files which this is not located under. Can someone please explain how I can either add a Lead Form here OR convert a Lead Form to a Smart File?

Hey @Mikelle Pustejovsky --
A lead form is similar to a contact form in that the client will be using it (typically) as a first point of contact to you and HoneyBook will then create a project when it’s filled out. You would then want an automation to connect to the lead form being submitted.
So, you’d have to create an automation, and thennnn you need to connect the automation to your lead form. [Not the other way around like you wrote]
Go to Tools > Automations > in the left column it says “Activate Via Lead Form” -- select the automation you want to trigger from the dropdown menu and match it to the correct leadform.
An example of how I have this in my business:
I have a leadform for when I reach out to ask people to be on my podcast - it’s an info page + a scheduler + a questionnaire to gather all their info and a thank you page. Immediately upon that being filled out it triggers my podcast interview automation.
I got here by going to Tools > Automations > left column to activate via leadform
Then, to further expand on your question - lead forms can not be used in automations to send to a client, because the idea of them, again, is that they are the first point of contact that is TRIGGERING an automation, not being sent through one. So, as you said, it would be converted to a Smart File. Currently there is no easy button to just one click convert it.
You would have to create a new smart file, and copy/paste your blocks from the leadform into the smart file. It’s much easier to do it the other way around (creating a smart file then convert to leadform cause you can add full pages)
So on your leadform, click the whole block/section you want to copy, hit the 3 dots and hit Copy, then go to your black Smart File and hit paste - continue til all rebuilt!

One more thing to add to Laura's very thorough response!
You Can send a link to a lead form to an existing client if you want. For example, let's say you finish a web design project and want to invite a customer to opt into your low ticket monthly retainer package that allows you to do x # of updates per month.
You could link your lead form into an email template ("We hope you loved your web design! Here's how to work with us next" etc) and either include it in an automation or send it as a bulk email from a specific pipeline stage.
Just be aware this will create a separate project (not terrible, considering it will likely have a very different workflow afterwards).
We are doing this for an EOY bookkeeping package were offering to clients!
