I have created a new automation system to integrate since it will be easier to understand than my past one. How do I apply the new automation triggers to my past clients, without losing my current spot in their old automation trigger process?

I have gotten as far as creating my new inquiry automation system, and duplicating it to make a manual version. But I am not sure where to go from there.

@Brigitte Faulkner - This is one of the tougher parts of rebuilding automations. Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to apply a new automation to past clients without disrupting where they currently sit in an existing automation. Once a project is enrolled in an automation, HoneyBook doesn’t support merging, swapping, or “inserting” a new automation mid-flow.

The safest approach is:

  • Leave existing clients in their current automation so their workflow isn’t interrupted, and

  • Apply the new automation only to new inquiries/projects going forward.

For past clients who need pieces of the new system, using manual automations, one-off emails, or tasks is usually the least risky workaround.

It’s great that you duplicated your inquiry automation to create a manual version — that’s exactly what most people do in this situation. From here, it’s really about deciding where it makes sense to manually step in versus letting old workflows finish out.
