Question

The new Search Bar and Menu layout is a bit awkward!

With the new sidebar menu that opens on hover, the search bar gets covered or I accidentally open the side menu when trying to click the search bar. It’s a small thing but I feel like I get a bit lost in the chaos for a second. Possible solution: move the search bar to another location or have the option to pin the menu open instead of hover open/close!

Thanks!

Hi, Avia from the product team here 👋🏼

Appreciate you sharing this, totally understand how the hover behavior can feel a bit chaotic at times.

A couple things that might help:

  1. Quick access to search: You can press ⌘ + K (Mac) or Ctrl + K (Windows) to open the search bar from anywhere, without needing to click.

  2. Sidebar pinning: The sidebar can be pinned open - just note that this option appears when your screen width is at least 1440px. Once pinned, it won’t open or close on hover.

Thanks again for the input!

@AviaE  - Unfortunately the expand feature defaults back to hidden if you open a new tab/window or leave HB and come back. I’m submitting an idea to have an option to permanently expand it for those of us who like the constant access to navigation without waiting for the hover and who struggle with it popping up when not wanted.

@Gabrielle Bailey I hope you’ll upvote my idea as it sounds like it would help you.
