I’m your new expert in residence here inside the Honeybook community - and this month - I want to answer ALL your juicy business questions. For the next week, let’s connect here inside this special AMA thread where you can drop some of your biggest questions about business and I’ll give you my insights and hot takes.

Let me formally introduce myself so you can see some of my street cred and we can get to know one another!

👩🏼 About Me:

I'm Candice, and I believe your purpose is your superpower.

I've been mentoring wedding pros since 2011, mostly while I was growing my renowned wedding planning & design company.

In 2019, I sold my 6-figure business so I could help you build the kind of business that you want.

As an author, podcast host, business coach, and entrepreneur, I firmly believe that no one should have to navigate the world of business—or happy hour—alone.

When I opened my first business in 2007, I was an unlikely entrepreneur. Seriously, I had no idea what I was doing. Having transformed a business from my spare bedroom into a thriving multinational enterprise, I've definitely had many ups and downs along the way.

I started my previous wedding planning company with NO experience, NO contacts, and none of the training or support that’s available in my business coaching programs. Even so, I signed high-end clients from the very start of my business and produced events in excess of $1,000,000.

These days I hang out on my podcast, The Power in Purpose - which I’ve been producing since 2018. I’ve been featured in everything from The New York Times to PEOPLE Magazine and I am VERY excited to connect with you all here inside this AMA thread!

🔮Topics Ideas:

Since I’ve been in the game for a while - there’s a lot I can answer and give you insight on. Here are some topics I love chatting about:

  • Growing a Business
  • Finding Your Ideal Clients

  • Managing Money
  • Growing Your Team

So, let’s have some fun, connect, and let me help you with something that’s been on your mind! Reply to this post and ask me anything - I’ll be responding over the weekend and even recording some video responses next week.

Excited!!

  1. You’re the best
  2. I’m going to be launching my first HoneyBook template bundle, and I’m thinking there’s value in also releasing the products individually at the same time. Do you think releasing too many things at once will cloud the offer, or does it make sense to do it all together?

@CandiceCoppola I hope it’s okay for employees to get in on the fun too 🤣

I’d love to know more about your decision making process when seeing new marketing trends come to life. How do you challenge yourself to learn new tactics that can supplement or enhance your marketing strategy without falling into the trap of jumping from trend to trend?

Aww, thanks Sandra!

Congratulations on launching your new template bundle! That’s so excited and SO needed to help people make quick progress.

I can see why you’d be going back and forth on whether to release them all at once or to do them one at a time! My experience in creating and building digital products tells me that putting them all out there at once is the best idea.

  1. It makes sure your products are out there for purchase and not sitting there waiting to be released
  2. People can have access to them NOW when they really need them
  3. You can pick one template bundle a week to promote, extending your marketing for all the bundles over a longer period of time

Good luck with it and feel free to follow up with any other Q’s for me! 😍

OMG of course! 😚

This is such a great question - because it can be really easy to feel like you need to use every marketing channel out there and you need to go ALL IN on them. Plus, there are so many cool marketing ideas to try and we’re being told all the time that we HAVE to do something. How do you know what trend/tactic/channel is right?!

  1. My first question when I am considering any new marketing trends, channels, or tactics is to ask myself if my ideal client is hanging out there and consuming content in that way. If your clients are not on a specific marketing platform - for example, if they don’t turn to Tiktok videos to help them solve the problem you solve for them - then its probably safe to hold off from using that marketing platform or trend!
  2. My next question would be around the campaign itself. What do I want it to achieve? Am I looking to drive engagement, build a leads list, move people to purchase, or just build some brand awareness? Understanding my goals will help me decide if the tactic/trend is right for my overall business,
  3. It’s also important to understand what capacity I have for the trend/tactic and if I need support. Fortunately, I do have a marketing team but unfortunately, I don’t have limitless budgets! :) So while I can hire experts to help me, I’m still on a budget! I think we often under estimate how much capacity we have for things. I take my time and energy into consideration with almost everything I do.

There are a few lessons I’ve learned about marketing over the years:

  • You should experiment and try new things!
  • Not every marketing trend or tactic is meant for you, so don’t feel like you need to do it all
  • Marketing is simply sharing your message so that it attracts the right person. So, make sure you’re always finding ways to share your message!

Great question Kait! Hope I could provide you some insight into my thought process!

You said ANYTHING lol, @CandiceCoppola what advice do you have for creativepreneurs who are in the scaling phase of their businesses? I see a lot of folks who have scaled up now scaling back. I’d love to not have to backtrack. What are your thoughts on this?

This is such a great quesiton, LaShonda!

And to be honest, my opinion on this topic has changed over the years.

What I’ve come to realize is that sometimes you have to explore your edges to understand where those lines actually are. That means we scale up and do things like hire team members, add products/services, move into an office space, or something like that only to discover that we don’t love managing a team, or the product we’ve built. That’s OK.

There have been so many times in my own career where I’ve scaled up and then scaled back after figuring out what I don’t want! I think the biggest example of that was when I decided to sell my wedding planning business and pivot my career.

Instead of seeing it like back tracking, I see it as forward tracking and making adjustments as you need them! That releases a ton of pressure to make the “right” decision for the long term and instead focus on decision making that makes sense for right now, knowing you can scale up or back depending on how it goes!

What do you think? What’s your take? I’d love to hear YOUR thoughts on it!!

@CandiceCoppola I LOVE that reframe and I’m definitely going to do some journaling about “forward tracking” this week. Soooo helpful!
