Auto-recognzing project dates in automations!

Wondering if anyone else has run into this issue! I’m in the process of setting up automated email check ins to go to our clients, starting from when they book, through 3 months prior to their event date.

I've started creating the automations, and there is the option to set the duration between emails as "wait a week" or "wait a month". I would love to see an option for the system to automatically recognize the length of time between the date the client is booked (or the automation begins) to the end date (3 months beforehand), and have an option for an email to send "7 months before project date" or something like that.

People book at all different stages, so the only way I've found around that is to create a separate automation for each duration of time, which in my mind defeats the purpose of automations, if I have to manually program it for each length of time.

Hi @Charlotte Acampora,

It would be so much simpler if we could just make one automation and have the system automatically recognize where it should be based on the project date.

But, for now, the best solution is to do exactly as you said. Make a specific check-in automation for each touch point. If someone books a project with you 3 months out, the automation WON’T “go back in time” and trigger a 6-months out automation, for example.

I usually like to separate the automations by a few months so clients are still getting their check ins no matter the stage they book.
