Hi all. Can someone help me understand the financial reporting and dashboard? I find it confusing and inaccurate. The Home Screen has one number, my overview says another. HB took away the one way I felt confident in checking the amount of payments received. You use to be able to select a custom date range and see the payment totals for the time period. I feel like that was the most accurate information but HB removed it in a recent update (stop “fixing” stuff that isn’t broken and taking away features that we use). A report of projects booked between this date and this date feels wildly unhelpful as I have clients on reoccurring subscriptions and then other projects that don’t warrant a date because it’s design work.  I use to be so good at always knowing my numbers and sales but now it’s extremely frustrating to track especially as I do quarterly tax payments, etc. HB please bring back the custom date range in the Payment tab and add it to the other financial reports.  Also, perhaps

I was recently told that Hneybook will be doing away with the Expenses tab altogether. The new “version” of it will be Honeybook Finance, which would require me to use a Honeybook debit card to be able to track my expenses. I was also told manual entry is gone. So, the only way to track expenses is if I were to get this debit card. I’m curious if others are/were actively using the Expenses tab? I really enjoyed getting snapshots of my business all within Honeybok but now I have to figure something else out. 

I’m wanting to use the new feature of passing processing fees to the client.  My question is:  If I already have invoices out where a deposit has already been paid, and I turn on the feature now, will these clients have that fee passed onto them for the final payment? I’d like to not have the additional fee added when it wasn’t added before for the deposit, but I want it to start passing on to all new invoices.  I suppose I can just go into new invoices individually and turn on this setting until all current outstanding invoices are completed, but that’s kind of a hassle lol

I have not found a definitive answer to this, so I would like to request this as a feature. I have been using HB for 5 years and every one of my contracts includes a security deposit.  There is no way within the invoicing system to account for the returning of this deposit after the event is over.   I write the clients a check or venmo, etc… and then I have to reconcile these transactions in QB with our bookkeepers, but it leaves our HB numbers broken for every contract, and the numbers don’t match up at the end of the year. This also causes confusion for our clients as the final number on the bottom of the invoice does not reflect the final price, and I have to include detailed text outside of the invoice to explain our process. I suspect that HB doesn’t want to include this functionality as it creates a need to return funds within their billing and invoicing system.  I gotta say that I don’t care about that.  Right now I just need the functionality to put those numbers on paper and h

How do I create SOME ITEMS to be recurring and others to be one-time fees on my invoice?

I contacted support about this but thought I’d write it here for the development team to see + anyone that agrees to chime in on. But I’m based in Canada and so automatically have my invoices sent in CAD. However, I work with a lot of US clients and 1. It may be off putting for them to pay in CAD (even though it automatically gets converted to USD) 2. I sometimes miss out on cash when I am estimating the USD to CAD conversion based on their budget, but exchange rates change all the time, so sometimes I may be getting less than their budget.  Long story short it would be great to be able to select what currency you want your invoice be sent in — especially for recurring invoices. What do yall think? 

Has anyone heard an explanation from Honeybook why it takes 7-8 days for ACH payments to post to your bank account? That seems awfully long considering other options like Quickbooks take 24-48 hours to post ACH transactions. I feel 7-8 days is a significant time to take for payments to post. Could be a real problem for many companies cash flow. 

I’ve recently noticed that HoneyBook transactions are not showing up on my QB sales tax liability report. I collect sales tax on all HB invoices, and when I look at the invoices after they are sent to QB I can see the sales tax…. but those transactions are not showing up in my reports. I’ve emailed my CPA about the issue, but would love feedback from someone here who might know if something is wrong on the HB side of things, or a possible fix. Thanks!  

I run a mobile bar business. I give my clients the option to pay the full gratuity and not allow a tip jar at their event. Or, they can pay part of the gratuity, and allow a tip jar on the bar. Is there a way to set this as a selectable option on the invoice?

I was super excited to see the option for instant deposit when looking at my finances. I set everything up and had my first payment go through as such. However, why am I paying for instant deposit when it’s not actually instant deposit? Some invoices I’m paying upwards of $10.00 for instant deposit and to me, that is a deposit within minutes. It’s been almost 24 hours since I paid for an instant deposit and have yet to receive my payment. Frustrating to say the least.

Hi lovely Honeybook Community!!Seems like a lot of us would love to offer a payment plan / split pay option vs. pay in full to our clients in invoices while they are selecting services and scheduling time with us. I found a workaround for this using a “checkout” page I built on my website + Honeybook automations + lead forms. My goal was to be able to do almost everything through Honeybook, especially collecting recurring payments automatically! Although it adds an extra step (and seems a little long on the backend), on the client end it’s looking seamless and actually provides a sense of urgency for them to pay the invoice in order to confirm the service.If anyone is interested message me and I’ll record a Loom video walking you through how I set it up for a new service I’m offering! 

I have created an account in quickbooks that is the same as my checking account but labeled account returns - I can see the account when pulling down the main account for syncing setup - but in the return account set up the only account that comes up is discounts given

I keep trying to download my 2025 1099 form or the payments processed summary but all I get is a “You’re form has been downloaded” in the upper right hand corner of my screen but I can not find it anywhere. Is there somewhere else I should be looking or something I should be doing?

A few (2-3 months) ago my CPA reached out to me with concerns over the reports I had been sending her saying the numbers are not adding up. Please take a deep dive into your reports. I have to submit monthly taxes to the state which I think is usual through most states. My taxable and non taxable sales are always calculated inaccurately sometimes completely omitting the sale at all and just leaving a zero on all the fields. I have submitted so many tickets with always the response of we see your ticket and we have forwarded it to the “development team” or “engineering team”. I’m not upset with any customer service I’ve received they have all been super attentive and tried to help but this is out of their control which I completely understand. I’ve been unable to get a manager or anyone who has any power to actually address this issue and get it fixed after being patient for months. hi all! I created an invoice quickly to a client so she can get onboarded. When she booked a call with me it created a project. I should’ve created the invoice inside of her project but i didn’t think of that. Is there anyway to merge them together?

Hello!  I need expanded reporting that is easy to view. We currently use Shopify for our POS system and online sales and HB for our custom orders and events. What we need to be able to easily view:-Sales for the events that happen each month. Since our final payments are due 30 days prior, the current file reports do not work. We need to see the months events and the dollar amount for the month, not booked revenue.  -Breakdown of items sold- for example- I would like to look back and see what our leading items we sold each month and year were. This helps us with trends, ensuring our delivery fees, rentals and baked goods are all separate in our planning. A break down of each item would be amazing- Total delivery fee, total cookies, total cakes, total rental etc.  I have had nothing but issues the last year with reporting not downloading across my two laptops. I would love to be able to view this online with out downloading, similar to how Shopify is.

Hi Honeybook Users! Question in regards to invoices/Payments. When a client makes a payment of say $500, when its in my honeybook balance its only like $492. Does honeybook take a percentage for use of CC? If so, How do I add the percentage to CC payments in my invoices?

In the Smart Invoice system, when a payment is refunded, the refunded amount does not reappear as an outstanding balance. This creates a serious issue for us.Many of our clients choose to pay by check to receive the pay-by-check discount and avoid credit card processing fees. If they accidentally pay by card and the payment is refunded, Smart Invoice is not restoring that payment as due, so the invoice shows as fully paid even when it isn’t.Because I am waiting for the physical check to arrive to manually mark the payment as complete, if the check never comes, the system provides no alert or indication that a balance is still owed. If this is not caught manually, a client could effectively avoid paying, which is completely unacceptable.This functionality needs to be corrected as soon as possible.

There used to be a "Dues & Subscriptions" as well as "Professional Prints option in the Tax Category drop down on the expenses page and they are no longer available.  How do we bring these options back? Personally, I used these two options the most as a photographer and would love to continue categorizing in this way. 😅
