Bring back the Payment tracker!

Hi all. Can someone help me understand the financial reporting and dashboard? I find it confusing and inaccurate. The Home Screen has one number, my overview says another. HB took away the one way I felt confident in checking the amount of payments received. You use to be able to select a custom date range and see the payment totals for the time period. I feel like that was the most accurate information but HB removed it in a recent update (stop “fixing” stuff that isn’t broken and taking away features that we use).

A report of projects booked between this date and this date feels wildly unhelpful as I have clients on reoccurring subscriptions and then other projects that don’t warrant a date because it’s design work.

I use to be so good at always knowing my numbers and sales but now it’s extremely frustrating to track especially as I do quarterly tax payments, etc.

HB please bring back the custom date range in the Payment tab and add it to the other financial reports.

Also, perhaps the ability to mark Smart File Proposals as bids verse actual Invoices due.

@Acacia Bowens - I can definitely understand the frustration here. Financial reporting is one area that many users have found confusing, especially with the differences between booked revenue, payments received, recurring subscriptions, and project-based reporting all being surfaced in different places. The removal of the custom date range in the Payments area has been especially difficult for people who relied on that for tracking actual cash flow and tax planning rather than booked projects.

Your point about differentiating between a Smart File proposal/bid and an actual invoice due also makes a lot of sense, particularly for businesses that use proposals as estimates before work is officially booked.

This is really valuable feedback to continue sharing through feature requests and upvotes, especially around:
• custom payment date range reporting
• clearer financial dashboard consistency
• recurring revenue visibility
• proposal vs invoice distinction

A lot of business owners depend on accurate reporting for quarterly taxes and forecasting, so hopefully the product team continues improving this area moving forward.
