Automations based on inquiry date

As a wedding venue owner, I’d like to be able to automate a response to an inquiry based upon whether the requested wedding date is available or is already taken. Currently, I have to do a clunky work-around with an automation for an open date, and a manual send for a date that is taken. Since I get an inquiry notification that includes a warning if there is a scheduling conflict, why can’t this be integrated into the automations?
