Is there any way to change the part where it calls the payment a retainer? This was a payment for an hourly service I provided. It isn’t a retainer. The client paid for my hours after they were worked.

You can’t customize the payment receipt emails. While it’s not technically a ‘retainer’ since you already provided services, the word retainer is great verbiage in case of a CC dispute. Retainer = nonrefundable. That way, nobody can claim it was a deposit for services that can be refunded.

I have this same problem. I have “real” retainers for clients (which are simply a pre-payment to apply to future services). But then every future invoice receipt they get includes the word “retainer”: Your client Sam Smith has booked you and made a credit card payment for the retainer (1 of 1 payments / Retainer).

They aren’t booking me. They’ve already booked. They are getting pay as you go services from me and that’s what I’m invoicing.

So they get monthly invoices and each receipt has the term retainer, and it confuses everyone. I very much wish this can be changed.
