A few months ago, an update came out that allowed you to duplicate one smart file in “project a” and create it in “project b” … this saved me SO much time sending proposals out because I was able to go back to a project that had the same or similar services and use it as a starting point - or even better - didn’t have to adjust anything at all… Then that changed and you could only duplicate a file from project a within project a - which didn’t make much sense to me (although I could see this being useful if you have repeat clients who receive the same services - although isn’t that what recurring billing is for now?) Ugh.

Please HB bring this feature back. It was short lived but OMG saved me so much time and I could absolutely see a huge increase in my numbers when this feature was available to us, because I was able to complete proposals in a fraction of the time it took me otherwise.

@Dannon Byrd - Right now Smart Files can still be duplicated within the same project, which can be helpful for repeat work with the same client, but I agree the cross-project option was really convenient for sending similar proposals to different clients.

One workaround you might consider is turning that Smart File into a template. Then you can add it to any project from your template library and adjust details as needed. If it’s not something you’ll use regularly, you could always remove the template afterward. Many people also keep a small set of core Smart File templates ready to use across projects to speed up proposal creation.

And since you mentioned how helpful the original feature was, it would definitely be worth submitting or upvoting a feature request so the product team can see how valuable it was for users.

If you ever want help refining or setting up Smart File templates, I’m a HoneyBook Pro and Template Partner and always happy to help people get their files setup in a way that saves time.
