As a photographer looking for a more diverse CRM, I was pleasantly surprised to find that HoneyBook now has a gallery option. I currently am a Pixieset user and have been for the last 5-6 years. I have been struggling with the limitations on that platform and wanted something with more flexibility and options as my business grows. The one thing that can’t be beat with Pixieset is the client galleries. They are high end and beautiful, but I wanted to give HoneyBook’s a try before officially making the switch over.
Things I Love:
- Very similar layout to competitors. It still has a clean look, it’s easy to access, and easy to look through.
- It’s just as, if not more, customizable color and font wise than Pixieset. I love this!
Things That Need Work:
- The preview of each image is low quality/pixelated, which upsets me. As a viewer of the gallery, the first thing I’m looking at is the images of course. That’s the whole point of the gallery after all. I love getting to scroll through it like a story. When they are low quality, even though they show up higher res when you click on each individual image, that initial impression isn’t the greatest. I don’t want to share that with my clients.
- When sharing the link via text, there is no preview of the gallery. It just comes up as the business logo. I love if I share links of galleries to my clients via text they can see the display image.
- There isn’t an option for a download pin. You can just download right from the gallery no matter what. Although part of me enjoys the simplicity, I also like the security blanket of the pin. I know it doesn’t do MUCH...but it gives me peace of mind.
- No option to print from the gallery. My clients don’t really utilize this in my current galleries anyway, but for businesses that utilize this feature won’t want to switch to HoneyBook for this.
I’m excited to see how this new feature will continue to be updated! I’m loving my experience in HoneyBook so far for backend work. Just hoping the galleries become even better so I can make that switch too.
