Question

Lead forms should fire conversion pixels on submit, not after "Done" click

Hey HoneyBook team,

I know this has been discussed many times, but I’m going to bring it up again!

Currently, when a client submits an inquiry through an embedded HoneyBook lead form, the confirmation redirect and any tracking pixels only fire after the client clicks the "Done" button on the confirmation screen. In practice, a significant portion of clients close the tab or navigate away after seeing "thanks, we got your message" without ever clicking Done.

This creates a real problem for anyone running Google Ads, Meta Ads, or GA4 conversion tracking. The conversion event never fires, so Google Ads has no signal about which clicks turned into leads, which means the campaign can't optimize for conversions at all.

I confirmed with HoneyBook support that the only current workaround is to use the "Lead form submitted" automation trigger to send an email and track that as a conversion proxy. That works, but it's tracking email sends instead of actual form submissions, which is roundabout and less accurate.

What I'd love to see:
Either a native option to fire tracking pixels on form submission (not on Done click), or expose a JavaScript event on submission that we can listen for and hook into GTM or gtag directly.

This is table stakes for any solopreneur or small business running paid acquisition. Right now the workaround is to abandon the HoneyBook embedded form entirely and build a native form on my website that pipes to HoneyBook via Zapier, which loses a lot of what makes the HoneyBook form great.

Thanks for considering it.

@agavestudio - This is such a helpful use case to have documented. If the lead has successfully submitted the form, I can absolutely see why you would want that submission to be trackable independently of whether they take the additional step of clicking “Done” on the confirmation screen.

This seems especially important for anyone using paid advertising, since accurately identifying which ad clicks resulted in actual inquiries affects not only reporting, but also the conversion data those platforms use to optimize campaigns.

Since you've already confirmed with Support that the current workaround is using the Lead form submitted automation trigger as a conversion proxy, I would definitely submit this in the Ideas section as well. I would actually use much of what you've written here because you've done a great job explaining both the problem and the potential solutions!

I would search Ideas first for something related to Lead Form conversion tracking, tracking pixels, or form submission events so you can upvote an existing request if there is one. If not, submit this as a new Idea so other members who rely on Google Ads, Meta Ads or GA4 can upvote it too.

Being able to keep the HoneyBook Lead Form experience and accurately track the actual submission would be really valuable.

There are quite a few different ideas submitted with this in mind. You can take a peek here.
