I just logged into HoneyBook today and noticed they’ve added galleries, and I’m really curious to hear everyone’s thoughts!

I’ve been using ShootProof for over 10 years as a photographer, and I currently use it for both gallery delivery and long-term archiving. I love how easy it is to set up a gallery and quickly send it off to a client, so I’m wondering how HoneyBook’s galleries compare.

A few questions I have:

  • Is the gallery feature included with the current HoneyBook membership, or is there an additional fee?

  • Are galleries able to be archived long-term, or is this more designed for smaller projects and quick delivery?

  • How does the client experience compare to ShootProof?

I actually already sent a gallery out through HoneyBook today, and I have to say the convenience of having everything in one place is really appealing. I’d love to hear from photographers who have tested it out!

I’m glad to see a post on here. I don’t even know if this community is even active anymore but I actually came on here to provide feedback for the galleries.

I’m a wedding & portrait photographer, running a high volume studio. I’ve used all the options before: Pixieset, Pic-Time (currently) and even Sprout Studio.

What Honeybook has done well is create a very simple, easy to use gallery. Both on the client’s end and on the back end. It’s easy to upload. Simple to change settings and easy for the client to view, share, and download images both on desktop & mobile.

Where HB needs to polish things up:

  • A store is needed sooner rather than later: To launch galleries without even a basic store seems silly to me. While the world we live in is very digital, some photographers make a lot of extra $$ on prints. I hope to see this feature launch within the next few months, before the fall season. Hopefully they integrate with the world’s leading labs as well like all the other gallery competitors.
  • Ability to limit downloads to just clients: Seems simple enough, but needs to happen. Right now download is either on or off. I limit my downloads to JUST the clients and anyone I invite (like another vendor). Alternatively, a download CODE would work just as well.
  • Mobile link sharing needs preview of gallery: Right now, when you share the link via text messages, a little preview of the gallery doesn’t appear. instead it’s your generic HB logo link. Would love if this actually showed the cover image to the gallery.

Down the line something that would be nice:

  • Email marketing integration: Similar to how Pic-Time does it, or Pixieset. The ability to add email campaigns and promotions so that way our clients can take advantage of a discount in the print store would be ideal.

Overall - HB has built a very clean, easy to use system for us and our clients. But I think simple tweaks and additional features down the line would make it even better!

I’m using it with a client right now to do photo selection from the initial gallery and it’s working well. It has a nice, clean look to it, simple for my clients to use. Since it doesn’t have a store I will deliver the final gallery via Smugmug which is my current process. I love the idea of having galleries in Honeybook but the store is a must have for me.
