Tap to Pay

I have set up Tap to Pay, and can accept payments via the + sign on the app, but can’t seem to use it via a published invoice. I am sure I am missing something, but can’t seem to figure it out. I’ve tapped every set of three dots, and it simply doesn’t come up as an option. Hoping a smartie-pants HB user might have some advice!

@Movita Beaucoup - Tap to Pay in HoneyBook currently works a little differently than the standard invoice payment flow. Right now, Tap to Pay isn’t tied directly to a published invoice, which is why you’re only seeing it available through the “+” button in the mobile app.

When you use Tap to Pay from the + button, you can select the client/project and enter the payment amount there, and the payment will still be recorded in the project. It just doesn’t initiate directly from the invoice screen itself.

So at the moment the workaround is to collect the payment through Tap to Pay from the + button and apply it to the project, rather than starting from the invoice.

You’re definitely not the only one who has expected this to be connected to invoices, so if you haven’t already it might be worth submitting or upvoting a feature request for Tap to Pay to be available directly from invoices.

@Alicia Bauer Thanks so much for this - I appreciate you taking the time to clarify! The information page made me think Tap to Pay was a part of published invoices, since it says to ‘select the invoice file,’ which is where my confusion and frustration came in! (pasted below) Glad to hear there’s a workaround, and I may have misunderstood the info below. Maybe this wording has been confusing other HB users as well? Regardless, I will happily move forward as you suggested above!

Option 2: Collect payment from a smart invoice file

If your project includes multiple payments, a signed contract, or a full smart file workflow, this method lets you collect an in-person payment while keeping everything tracked inside the original invoice and project.

  1. In the mobile app, select Projects

  2. Open a project with a published or sent smart invoice file, then select Files

  3. Select the invoice file > the More actions menu iconthree-dot menu icon next to the payment > Use Tap-to-Pay

  4. Select the client who’s paying or Add client to project > Get paid with tap-to-pay

  5. Have the client tap to pay
