The Constant "You can send a tip reminder" notifications are harassment

I don’t want to send tip reminders to my clients.
I don’t want to be reminded I can send tip reminders to my clients.
Asking someone like this would be like a server at a restaurant going up to a table and saying “Do you want to tip me now?”
It is rude and I am not going to use this option
I already get to many notifications on my laptop and on my phone.

Please stop harassing me with notifications about tip reminders.

Hey @DudeistJon

Thanks so much for your feedback about the tip reminder. Starting next week, you should see a toggle that allows you to turn this reminder off - the team is building it now :)

Cheers!

Monica

Where is the toggle for removing the Tip reminder? I’m not seeing it under Preferences

Hi @AnnaG

If you prefer not to send tip reminders to clients or receive notifications about them, you can disable this in your company settings.

From a desktop:

  1. Click Settings in the bottom left corner of any page

  2. In the Company tab, click Preferences

  3. In the Other preferences section, toggle off Tip reminder email

Tip-reminder notifications cannot be disabled from the mobile app at this time.

Here’s a screenshot with it’s exact location!

I agree that sending automated tip reminders is rude and in poor taste.  I would, however, like to manually send a tip option to my client when they request.

Here is the scenario - the auto-pay feature is set on the day of the appointment and it usually charges the clients card before their appointment. Many clients do not carry cash for tipping so they wish to tip on the 'already paid' invoice. My work around is to send them a separate invoice - which I have done for $1 so that they can tip. An ideal method would be to activate a tip option to the paid invoice.

Another easier option is to let them Venmo or Cashapp but I would prefer keeping everything through HB.  Developers - please add this

I have sent along messages to honeybook already on this matter. I feel like this is a horrible feature and feels like just another way for honeybook to get more money into their pockets (as they would receive more of their fees). It is an extra step for me now, using time which is money and I guarantee this will leave a bad taste in my clients mouths if they were to receive an email because I was too busy and forgot to turn off. Tips for me are appreciated but not in any way expected. I believe this feature is in extremely poor taste all around.

Wait, you have to turn it off?  I thought it stayed off until it’s turned on. I hope our clients are not receiving that tacky email

I don’t have this setting. Do I need to reach out to support?

Yea this is the tackiest freakin feature I’ve ever seen. I will be SOO embarrassed if Honeybook sends one of these messages without me turning that feature on. I turned the “New smart files will have the tip reminder turned on by default.” off, so hopefully that did the trick? Very poor taste to have this automatically on.

ABSOLUTE CRINGE. I can’t put into words how much I hate this feature, and that it is now auto-enabled. I got a notification this morning from Honeybook, (I’ll call it a threat) that a tip reminder will be sent to one of my clients in 24 hours unless I cancel it. I was horrified. I had to actively go in and cancel it.

There is a setting I never saw before in the preferences underneath the one that turns off the reminder to you. There is now a second one that says “New smart files will have the tip reminder turned on by default” and this was automatically enabled in my settings. So when I make a new contract and invoice, the client will automatically receive a humiliating email from me asking for more money from them, unless I drill down three steps into the invoice settings to turn it off. Why on Earth would this be a default setting, let alone a feature at all?

From what I can tell, even if you have this setting off in the preferences, Honeybook also says this:

“HoneyBook also uses smart files and template settings to control tip reminders.

  • The Send email reminder if tip isn’t received setting may be:

    • Auto-enabled on new blank invoices

    • Auto-enabled on templates in the template gallery with tipping”

So for new blank invoices and some template-based invoices, you have to actively turn off an embarrassing email that Honeybook sends to your clients asking for a tip.

Secondly, it says the setting “may be” auto-enabled. Why would it be a “may be” - is it or isn’t it?

I want this feature gone completely so there is a 0.00% chance that my clients receive tip reminders.
