Updates making Honeybook less user-friendly

Is it just me or does Honeybook get less user friendly every single week with all the updates and new AI features? The scheduler update absolutely sent me over the edge. I can only have a regular schedule through this update and if I need to add any “custom” times, I have to add every single day individually instead of just adjusting the times week by week like you used to be able to do. Every single one of my days is custom, so I have to add every single day as a custom date. It’s so much extra time and work.

The replying to emails is worse. I have to click that tiny “reply” at least 3 times for the button to work, then scroll back up to type into the email box. I can’t just….. click the box and start a new email like you used to be able to do? You have to click so many times just to respond to an EMAIL!

The way the Expiration date on files now gets updated every time you make an update is ridiculous. The Expiration date that I set purposely WHEN I SENT THE FILE, is the date I want. Now I have to go into EVERY SINGLE FILE when I update it and adjust the date to be what it used to be. Is there no setting to turn this off? Who decided their update was more imporant than the expiration dates I intentionally set? If I wanted the date to move, I would move it myself.

The “Projects” area is so much worse on phones or mobile. You literally cannot scroll to the right or left so the ONLY thing you can view in the mobile area is the persons name. Not project type, not location, not date, nothing.  You also couldn’t filter the projects on mobile by person! You could ONLY see EVERY project the team has. I complained enough about this one that it looks like it’s finally fixed.

I’m just honestly so tired of logging in and having to learn a whole new system. It’s such a waste of time. Is anyone else going crazy with all the updates!??!?!

Hey @Tara Jackson I’m sorry you are having all these issues. Here are some random questions:

Do you use HoneyBook more on your laptop or phone?

Is your phone using the most up-to-date app?

What plan are you on? This will help me understand your access.

Tara Jackson

I use my phone, laptop and iPad. I need to be able to access any time and anywhere. I downloaded the app and deleted it after a few months because it was worse than using Honeybook on my phone’s Safari. The first three issues are things that happened on my laptop just today.

@Tara Jackson - I can definitely understand where you're coming from, especially when you're using HoneyBook throughout the day and across multiple devices.

I think one of the biggest challenges with updates is that even when new features are intended to improve the platform, changes to workflows we've already established can create additional work. And when you're running a business, those extra clicks and adjustments really do add up!

The scheduling issue you mentioned is a great example. If your availability changes from week to week, having to enter every individual date instead of adjusting your schedule in larger blocks isn't necessarily making things easier. I can see why that would be frustrating.

The email reply issue sounds like it could potentially be a bug, especially if you're having to click multiple times before the button responds. I would definitely report that to Support through the ? icon so they can investigate what's happening.

I'm also curious about the expiration date issue. If editing an existing Smart File is automatically changing an expiration date you intentionally set, that's something I'd want HoneyBook to take a closer look at as well. I wouldn't expect to have to continually reset a date that was already established.

For the scheduling workflow specifically, I would encourage searching the Ideas section to see if there's an existing request for more flexible custom availability. If there is, adding your vote and explaining how your schedule changes week to week would be really valuable.

I think there's room for HoneyBook to continue introducing new functionality while also making sure the everyday tasks we rely on remain simple and efficient. Sometimes it's the little things we do dozens of times a week that have the biggest impact on our experience.

I hope some of these frustrations can be addressed because I completely understand wanting the tools you use every day to save you time, not create more work. ❤️
